We visited Ft Macon recently after about 10 years away. Wonderful new visitor center with orientation video, artifacts, and shop. The fort is fun to walk around (be careful with children on the upper level, no guard rail). Some rooms have displays of life in...More

Beautiful park with trails on both the beach and swamp sides. The fort has been well restored and contains a wealth of information and artifacts. We really enjoyed.

Very clean park and beach was nice too. This beach wasn't overly crowded. I found the surf to be a little rough. I would return, as there was free parking too.

This brings history to life, and like other reviewers mentioned, you really get a feel for what the people living at the fort were experiencing through some of the letters. It is fun to learn history this way and I like the interactive maps and...More

To my knowledge there is no place to dock a boat to go and visit the fort. The Coast Guard base is on one side and open beach on the other with no dock.
