We went on a very cold windy day and enjoyed the stop. It is a free attraction, a combination of both inside and outside viewing spots. We visited on New Years Eve and they were having live music and a cannon firing. We didn’t stay...More

We traveled to the fort in the "off season." There were no guided tours at this time, but the weather was still nice and we appreciated the opportunity to linger in areas without keeping up with a group. The visitor's center video prior to entering...More

The Fort has been sectioned into various rooms which tell the story of the Forts history. Entry was free. The site would certainly benefit from more safety features but so worth the effort to visit.

There are many cement areas to the Fort. Canons face out toward the water. It doesn't take much time to visit Fort Macon.

I loved coming there. A lot of history. To learn about the war and the famous hill. My nieces liked it.

My wife and I, vacationing in Beaufort for the first time, visited here after several locals recommended it and we’re glad we did. Everything about this place is top quality: it’s whistle clean visitors center, it’s orientation video, it’s museum, and the refurbished Fort itself,...More
