About
This 12-mile long beach is also a National Park. Its proximity to the ruins keeps hotels from developing in the area, making it great for uncrowded swimming as well as bird watching.

We really enjoyed our time on Patara beach. I confess we didn’t visit the ruins even though we paid for a ticket! We were able to locate sunbeds and a parasol close to the cafe and toilets so didn’t have to walk too far. It’s very clean and my son enjoyed swimming in the waves. We tried snorkelling but it’s quite salty so not very easy to see. We didn’t spot any turtles this time!

Been visiting this beach for thirty years. It’s been beautiful. Today it was dirty - a sea of cigarette ends, random litter and thumping music from the stall where you pay for beach beds. Not being looked after at all. Sad especially for a protected beach.

A nice beach and reasonably priced restaurant serving quite basic food.
However, avoid the ice cream vendor on the pathway down to the beach. Charged 400tl for two ice creams. Extortionate. He then got quite threatening when challenged.

Beach is great and not really changed from the last time I went 20 years ago - mainly because it is a conservation area and I hope it stays protected. There are many more people here now as they provide sunbeds and parasols (they would make more money if they had mattresses as well as the sunbeds are a bit hard). The boardwalk needs extending as no good for anyone in a wheelchair or with a buggy as it stops short of the sunbeds and the cafe. Overall it is a beautiful spot and easy to get a dolmus or cab there and/or back. Pretty upset by the cigarette butts everywhere though as this never happened 20 years ago!

Visited here after a ten year break, this is one stunning stretch of sand..travelling up the beach it is clean and covered by huge sand dunes which back onto the ruins....
Coming back to the sunbed area the beds are all over the place and covered in sand and sadly the beach is filthy.
Surely charging 90tl entrance fee should go some way to paying someone to clean the beach and adding more bins..
Very disappointing

What an absolute robbery this was. Outrageous prices for a filthy, unattended beach and rude staff. Avoid at all costs and let the beach be a home to carettas who will treat it much better.

I have been going to the beautiful, unspoilt patara beach for over twenty years...alas, this year, I was horrified!! The beach was filthy...it is full of cigarette butts, the beach is obviously not being raked or cleaned in any way, shape or form. It is impossible not to walk on them, as they are absolutely everywhere, along with litter and even discarded corn on the cob... it's quite upsetting to know that, the once idyllic turtle beach is awash with filth...why oh why is this happening?

We visited Patara in the middle of the week. The beach was practically empty until 12-13h. The entrance fee was 180TL for two people and the cost of two beds and an umbrella was 150TL. The café was reasonably priced but nothing too special, somewhat decent for a beach café. The beach was clean overall and got quite busy in the afternoon. There are many spots that are empty, however there are no sunbeds and umbrellas, you would have to bring your own.

A man that we think is the owner of the Beach Cafe, was very rude and rather sleazy. He stood at the end of the bar dancing on his own to the music that he was playing, the volume was to the point that we couldn’t hold a conversation. Whilst there a customer with his family made a complaint to the staff. The owner got involved and verbal abuse was shouted at the customer, then a fight between them started. Families were shocked to see this happening, young children were crying. When the two men were separated the owner went and grabbed a very large knife and tried to get at the customer. The whole cafe turned into chaos, screaming parents, crying children, everyone trying to get out of the cafe. Disgusting behaviour! This man should, at the very least, have his license revoked.

Я очень боюсь разных насекомых в воздухе и в песке. Кто водится в песке на этом пляже (скорпионы, многоножки, змеи) и на руинах Патары? Как обезопасить себя?

Hi iro4ka61
there might be mosquitoes if you stay till late evening on the beach to watch spectacular sunset (the beach offers fantastic view to sun going done). They are small and almost "soundless", so you realize it only once you suddenly find itching bites... We had this problem also on the open terrace of the restaurant.
Tourist area of Patara ruins is not dangerous, just stay on official walkways.
Enjoy your vacation,
Ash

Hi. Im going to go to Patara next year with my kids of 10 and 7 old for 5 days on july. Please tell me if the water is ok for kids. Is a deep water on seaside? Is big and dangerous waves or is common waves? are mosquitoes on the beach too? How much does it cost to enter the beach. Thank you.

Hi,
Patara beach is without doubts suitable for kids: it's very slowly descending and sandy; many meters away from the waterfront the water level is still around 1m. There are no big waves. We left the beach after sunset and did not see any mosquito whereas there are plenty of them in the hotel we stayed. Admission charge: a family card cost us ca 30 Lira, it allows multiple entries.
Happy vacation!

What’s the best time to go if you want to see the sunset?

It depends on the time. You can check the time of sunset in the internet. Concerning the mentioned toilets: they are a desaster!
