Nice walk great view

The vendors sort of spoil the experience but it was interesting and the view on a clear day is awesome.

Like every castle Ankara Kalesi is also located on one of a high hill of the city. Around the castle you can find some authentic restaurants which you may enjoy some traditional food after your visit to the castle.

A real mix of renovation and dilapidation. Wander through old streets and reach the castle. The climb up the steps is worth an amazing view over the city.

Gives the old city where it all started feeling is there. Not very close. Need a day for complete visit or two half days if want to complete 100%. Ankara prices considerably lower than Istanbul, so shopping food can be good-value if planning to stay more than 2-3 days. Look for a branch of ÇağdaşMarket all around Ankara. It is a... More

Around the castle you can see the ancient houses but not many left now. Some of the oldest houses are turned into a restaurant and here you probably can have the best ''fasıl'' which is a Turkish style musical entertainment which is suited best with tapas and liquors. Around the castle area in the little streets you can find some... More

The Citadel/Castle of Ankara (tell to the taxi driver: Ankara Kalesi), if you go to the top (stairs - not wheelchair friendly) you will have a great view of Ankara - great place to take pictures! It is a small-medium sized place but lovely to walk, have something to eat (tip: eat mantı), to buy some lovely semi-precious jewelry (good... More

I've been visiting this area, and the renovated streets around the citadel for over 10 years. They, the city and businesses, are doing a great job of making this a real destination. 10 years ago the citadel had just a few shops and one little pesion. Rather shabby at that. Today, most of the place has been renovated and higher... More

It is very old place. If you are interested how Ankara buildings were in the past, you will enjoy here a lot. When you reach top, you can see view of Ankara. Also there are restuarants that you can rest and eat. If you are in Ankara, You should visit here!
