Just head on down in the morning to catch the sight and smell of tuna being weighed and sold - gives a sense local Maldivian life with local fishermen / agents.

As stated, despite the smell, it was a FUN VISIT. I could not believe the variety of sea-food offered in this market. Even though the shopkeepers knew we were tourists and not going to buy anything, they were warm, friendly & full of smiles!

If you wish for some local down-to-earth sight, one should at least visit this place. Some people might not be able to bear the smell . Just bear with it. Some days might be ok , to some people maybe some days might be unbearable....More

There are two fish markets, in effect. One sells fresh fish. The other sells smoked and preserved fish, especially tuna, which smells disarmingly. There are also huge hands of bananas on sale. The markets are close to Jetty 1 and well worth seeing.

I was surprised to see how quickly the tuna fish was "prepared" for cosumption. The skilled labour worked like a train

Called in yesterday. Never seen so many tuna fish for sale in one place. The skill of the men filleting was well worth watching.
