Understanding the history behind the martyrdom was fascinating. Nice monument in the city that considered as the center of christianity in a country that has less than 1% of christians.

Our first stop upon reaching Nagasaki, after 1.5 hrs from Hakata.. We walked a 15 mins slight uphill to the site, like a plaza, an open space area. Can be quite a challenging hike I would say, so be a little prepared. Both the Twenty-Six...More

Interesting history of Christianity in Japan. Only the second place I have ever found a church and relics (Sapporo also has a Christian immunity). Worth a look.

Museum showcases History of Christianity in Japan before/during and...More

The museum has done an amazing job showing and detailing the History of Christianity in Nagasaki and ultimately the price they paid during times of oppression by the Shogunate forces.

I'm glad I spent the 500 yen to go into the museum. There were plenty of English explanations. The presentations went way beyond the 26 martyrs to a broader history of Christianity in Japan. For me, the brief description of each of the martyrs was...More

26 Martyrs are not real thing I know seems too good to be true since Jesuit wasn't accepted here in Japan but they are killed by Japanese government of the day as it says

We visited Nagasaki on a very rainy day so we did some museum-hopping. At first I doubted to visit this museum because I feared spending 500 yen per person and (based on earlier experience) not being able to read a single sign. However, I am...More
