His knowledge and enthusiasm for the product was great and he was very engaging and happy to demonstrate. The knives were clearly good quality and his pride in the product was evident. - Marnette CPerth, Australia29 contributionsExcellent service, excellent productI went looking for a couple of good quality knives for everyday use. I was greeted by a very friendly lady who was able to speak in English to me as my Japanese is scant at best. She gave me a few options. I was able to try out the ‘feel’ test as to whether I liked the weight etc. She even gift wrapped them as they were presents, after she offered to have them engraved with individual names in KanaVisited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 30 November 2023
- Jim J5 contributionsPerfect spot for amazing Japanese knives. If you’re at least somewhat fascinated by Japanese made knives, a stop at Tower Knives is a fun experience. The store staff is amazing! From learning how different knives are made to learning how to sharpen on a whetstone you will walk away with knowledge and most likely a new knife of two. A short jaunt from Tennoji Station and well worth the time .Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 18 December 2023
- Peter S1 contributionBest place for knives!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an exceptional shopping experience at Tower Knives! The variety and quality of the knives are impressive, and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Daniel gave us a great tour and helped guide me in finding the perfect knives. A special mention to Kitaura-san, who also made our visit unforgettable. My parents are Spanish speaking and needed some extra help. Her fluent Spanish was perfect, making the entire process smooth and enjoyable for them. She patiently explained the features of different knives and helped them choose the perfect one. My dad was raving about how perfect her Spanish was and how it made him feel at home. Thank you, Kitaura-san, and the Tower Knives team for such a great experience. Highly recommended!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 July 2024

I was looking to purchase a set of knives while in Japan and had gone to a few stores already, but with the language barrier, it was hard to know if I was purchasing the knife I needed.
I was having dinner with a friend who lived in Osaka and he referred me to Tower Knives, as they also had English-speaking salespeople. I went to the store the next day and was pleasantly surprised by the level of service in English. The store takes the time to ensure you are purchasing the correct knife and how to take care of that knife. I was able to make my purchase and was confident it was the knife I needed.

My partner came here to get himself a knife for our house and it was really interesting to see what they make, because you can see them making the knives in the workshop. They tell you about the knives and what they're made of, and even tell you how to care for them.

Prior to my trip to Osaka, I knew I wanted to buy a Japanese knife. The tour director had contacted me if there was anything I was looking for on the free day in Osaka and I mentioned going knife shopping. She reached out to several knife shops and gave me a list of three options, but only Tower Knives had asked additional questions regarding what I was looking for and there was several emails with them, this put them at the top of the list!
When I arrived, they asked what the intended purpose was, and proceeded to talk about the different types of knives, showed me the different cases, and which would probably be best for what I wanted. I browsed the cases without interruption, except when I had questions, and was interested in three knives; two with Japanese styled handles and the third with a western style handle. She allowed me to try them on carrots and apples. All of them sliced transparent thin carrots, but I felt I needed to go with one of the traditional Japanese handle knives and even bought a paring knife. The craftsman who made the knives was onsite, so he came out to meet me and take a picture. Another person then came out to show me how to properly care for and sharpen the knives. My one regret is that I didn't have my name engraved on the knives! I absolutely love the knives for their intended purpose.

This is a great place to purchase gifts for family and friends! The staff was very helpful and spoke English well. We purchased 8 knives in total and were able to have those engraved within 30 minutes. Be sure to bring your passport for duty free purchase.

Plan to visit from the US this month but will be packing only carryon luggage. Does the US charge taxes if I make a purchase and have to ship to Arizona?

The Yanagiba Sashimi Knives at Tower Knives start around JPY 10,000. Consult to find a knife that matches your needs and budget, and be sure to get a quick free sharpening and maintenance introduction if this is your first single-beveled knife.

Yes, TOWER KNIVES accepts VISA, MC, AMEX, and JCB cards. Bring your actual passport if you are visiting Japan and prefer to shop tax free.

Hi, do they have steak knives and the price range for that? :)
Written 19 April 2019
I’m sure they will have steak knives as they have a full range. They mainly do cooks knives but they also pocket knives and all sorts of others, including nail cutters. Japan is famous for its blades. Price wise I’m not sure about as I only looked at Nakiri chief knives prices as that is all I wanted, sorry hope this helps.

Yes, we do ship abroad, but some countries will charge you import tax on your purchase. Please send us an email with a bit of information on what type of knife you are interested in.

If I purchase items here, do they assist in shipping my purchases to my home country (Canada)?
Written 26 February 2018
Tower Knives Osaka can arrange shipping if you do not have checked luggage, but beware that Canadian customs will tax you if you ship your purchase instead of carrying it.

TOWER KNIVES takes VISA, MC, AMEX, and JCB cards. Some debit cards do not go through, but depends on the individual card arrangement with your bank.
If a tourist, bring actual passport for tax-free purchase if total over JPY 5,400, meaning 8% is deducted in the shop from total (not a refund at the airport).
