It's a little far from the train station. We really have a hard time to visit this temple, its 20-30mins walk from the train station. Many temple inside, when we visit there is on-going event (I'm not sure what is that). I think you can skip this when touring osaka.

We went here on a Sunday and there seemed to be a festival as there were many worshipers around partaking in their traditions. Because there was a festival on entrance to the main temple area was free, other days you do have to pay to get in there but it isn't much. It is well worth the look and if... More

Shintennoji Temple is a nice and quiet temple in Osaka. It is a historic place but the building does not look old at all. You need to pay entrance fee in order to get into the temple area. Outside the temple area, it is a nice garden. There is a subway station called Shitennoji Temple. However, if you want to... More

I feel like i was robbed at the day light. My advice from station is quite far from near station. Im suggesting using map and pocket wifi. Not really fantastic. In the paid area there are main hall and tower. Cannot take a photo and inside of them is nothing. Unless you come to pray in Buddha religion. Dont bother... More

It is a large temple with many historic and beautiful buildings and shrines. There is an incredible amount of history and reverence. The architecture is also quite beautiful. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in Osaka.

Far from the madding crowd, and the opposite of the crazy, trendy frenzy of Osaka's shopping districts, Shitennoji Temple is a space of peace and tranquillity in the middle of the city. What I loved was its distinctly local feel, with fewer tourists in sight. I ended up wandering in this area the whole afternoon and stumbled across an amazing... More

A 10-minute walk from the station. We went during the Tanabata celebrations. The whole area was very lively. There were many stalls for food and games. At the end they had a fire ritual to burn the paper wishes that visitors wrote and tied to the bamboo.

Always a nice pleasure to come here. Sometimes there are also interesting entertainment going on as well. Not much people, but usually crowded during weekends and market days.
