Quiet place. Clean toilet. Nothing much to see really except the buildings, lots of trees, and statues.

We visited in the late afternoon so some areas were already closed. This also made this attraction quiet and solemn for meditation. Walking distance from our hotel.

An entrance fee is necessary for this temple to see the main hall and the five-storied pagoda. Because they are surrounded by high walls, I was not able to see those buildings appearance from the outside.

Shitennoji Temple is about twenty minutes of walking south west of Namba Railway Station. It is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Osaka. There are more than ten different buildings inside a huge area. Main entrance is at east and main hall is at the west end. This temple is not busy or beautifully decorated like Sensoji Temple in... The shrine/temple is quite enough and no much people come to here. The location is close to Tennoji shopping mall, bus and train station.

The temple is a short walk from Tennoji Station. The entrance gate is so beautiful and you can see a monk outside the gate wearing traditional Japanese garments. The main attraction is the multi tiered pagoda.

We visited Shitennoji Temple as part of a city tour of Osaka and we were not that impressed by what we saw. This temple does not compare to what can be seen in Tokyo and Kyoto.

Went there early morning, and as the sun rises, we saw lots of turtles in the pond, going up the platform, for "sunbathing" which was cute.. Imagine hundreds of them together.

This is a nice, quaint, old temple that is worth a visit. It is tranquil, peaceful and a quiet oasis in juxtaposition from the crowded city life. I visited at the start of the Golden Week, on a Saturday when the rest of Osaka was heaving with people. Nevertheless, there is a calm about this place. Nice to get away.... More
