    A highlight in Osaka
A highlight in Osaka, and one of the best visits of our trip. We used our Osaka Amazing Pass for entry to the internal complex and the gardens. Although entry price is reasonable if buying. The gardens were one of the best of the trip - we arrived quite early and we were the only visitors so it was very peaceful. The Temple was very impressive. You were able to climb inside of the pagoda - this was the only time visiting Japan we had this chance. Compared to Temples in Kyoto and Tokyo, it was very quiet and you could take it all in a little bit more here. Really was very peaceful and beautiful. Worth a visit. Only a short walk from the metro station. Toilets and vending machines available here.

    Worth a visit
The outer temple grounds can be visited for free but you have to pay a small fee if you want to visit the pagoda or the gardens. There are lots of vending machines and toilets on the vast temple grounds. At the time I visited there was a ceremony with chanting taking place which was quite fascinating. I loved the smell of incense which was omnipresent on the grounds.

    Worth A Visit
This location is about 15 minutes from the nearest Metro station but as Temples go is worth a visit. It's in very good condition for its age - it could have been built last year - and the grounds are peaceful and serene. Allow about half an hour. Last entries are around 3.30pm

    Beautiful pagoda
A beautiful shrine with a 5 storey pagoda and huge brass Buddhas. This is a beautiful area with turtle pond and awesome architecture plus manicured Peebles ground. Reflect, study and inflect - well worth your time

Beautiful temple with a long history
This beautiful temple is located in central Osaka. It's a beautiful place to stroll around. Make sure to go inside, it's worth paying the entrance fee. I particularly enjoyed the paintings inside the temple.

    Quiet and serene
A beautiful temple at downtown Osaka with a pagoda at the centre surrounded by beautiful grounds. What's unique is that the pagoda houses a relic of the Buddha - and you would need to climb a winding stairway to the top to see the relic. Easily accessible via trains.

We visited while on an e-bike tour. It’s beautiful and free to enter. Outside you can pay a little money (I don’t remember the cost) to burn a little incense stick to cleanse yourself.

Probably my favourite temple on our recent trip to Japan. Much less crowded than others in Tokyo and Kyoto. Worth visiting.

Shitennoji temple in Osaka was founded in 593 and it was the first state established Buddhist temple in in Japan. It was destroyed several times over the years due to various reasons and been rebuilt over the centuries and the last reconstruction took place in 1963. The temple complex has several structures, the best one is the colorful five story pagoda. There is a beautiful garden inside where we could see cherry blossom on 12th April

This temple is near Tennoji Station, It was founded in 593 by Shotoku-Taishi, who supported the introduction of Buddhism into Japan. Although the temple's buildings burned down several times throughout the centuries, they were always carefully reconstructed to reflect the original 6th-century design. Nice temple to visit and there are a few interest looking cemeteries on site. The outer temple is free.
