A bit hard to find. We took the train, exited at what we thought was the right stop according to the guidebooks. We then walked and walked and walked some more. No Koreatown. We asked. Nobody speaks English and when you say "Korea" which everybody recognizes still everyone shook their head. Finally we found a taxi and asked him. "Korea?", "Hai" We drove around a bit and finally - Koreatown.

Koreatown lines a llong street with multiple shops. We decided to have lunch and entered an establishment. I am very familiar with Korean food. The menus all have pictures but unfortunately they we out of a lot of items. We finally settled for bulgogi and grilled spicy pork which were excellent.

Returning to the train station was only a few blocks but it was not the station we arrived at. If you go there, make sure you get a map and specific directions.

The Tsuruhashi Korea Town as it's known locally is a Korean "settlement" from the beginning of the 20th century. I come here to satisfy all my Korea-needs, from products such as cultural items to food and reasonable priced Korean food of course. Many of the residents here are third to fourth generation Koreans that were born in Japan. It's important to keep the tradition alive!!

Although there are some Korean shops in the Tsuruhashi Station arcade, I recommend that you should walk to Korea Town for 10-15 minutes, because there are more shops and things are cheaper there. It is fun to stroll and taste some Korean food, but it doesn't take much time to walk from end to end in the area.

Tsuruhashi is most populated Korean area in the whole Japan. That's why its nickname is Korean Town in Osaka. There are plenty of food all around the station. Even though you are not looking for Korean Food, there are plenty of choices, sushi, tuna, BBQ, all available in very affordable price!

I was living here at a guest house for half a year. The Korea town street is lively during the day and then goes down with the sun. There are some places to get a drink late. And some cool back-ally karaoke with friendly locals. It is a bit off the beaten path but if you are good with maps, you can get here from Tsuruhashi station in about 12 minutes. I challenge you.

Unfortunately there is no signage from station and maps online are scarce. It is east of station between Tsuruhashi and Momodami stations. There is a few restaurants and a lot of food street stalls as well as other Korean style products available. There are many local meat shops that where locals purchase their different cuts and styles of meat. Well worth a visit. Take north side of subway exit, turn right down main street to next main intersection ~ 200m, turn right again and ~350m you will see a small street on your left with a banner across the street a short distance in, about 150m down this street you will be able to the main Korea Town entrance. Enjoy the experience.

Another face of Osaka worth seeing is Miyuki-Dori (Korea Town ) ! From the tubs of Kimchi to the Korean street food - panjeon ,the colorful Hanbok stores, the quaint Kimchi School , the iconic Dol Hareubang of Jeju by the entrance of a Kimchi store to the Korean Wave-Hallyu posters , one is transported to Seoul after a short hop from the Tsuruhashi subway station. Truly a perfect introduction to Korea via Osaka. Definitely worth a visit to experience the food and some shopping.

My daughter is into K-Pop, so when we decided on going to Japan, Korea town was on the itinerary list. Small area dedicated to Korean culture, many music shops and merchandise shops (usually part of the same shop) for finding your favourite pop star/band from Korea. I few restaurants too for you to sample Korean cuisine. Plenty of parking available but please look into parking and charges as its a little different to the UK. Korea town is easily accessible, the tube station is close by.

An easy subway ride from the center of town, it can be a fun change of pace if you are on a culinary tour of Asia. The alleys also allow for great photo ops and there is even some good bargain shopping.

However....beware of some of the shopkeepers or restaurant owners. They can be VERY rude. After being accustomed to the hyper politeness of the Japanese, running into a stubborn belligerent Korean shopkeeper can be jarring. Keep going, shrug it off and just drink another Sapporo.

Osaka Korean Town is really more of a long road than a town, somewhat like Shinsaibashi, only with much less people and a much smaller area. Though much smaller in size than Shinsaibashi, it's still quite a walk from the starting point of this road to the end. The good news is, before reaching the end, you're bound to give in to at least one of the multitude of mouthwatering smells, be it from the authentic restaurants or small food stands along the road. I'm sure I gave in numerous times - it was just too much!

One downside is that the prices of food in the restaurants as well as the stands were relatively high (of course, it's to be expected from Korean food), about ¥700 above for full meals. But prepare to spend more should you choose buy a ¥700 meal, for a true tourist's belly just won't be satisfied enough. I had a ¥1,050 meal (one of the best beef I've tasted here), and still couldn't help myself from eating and spending more!

Aside from the abundance of delicious food this road provides, equally abundant are the K-Pop stores, filled with K-Pop music and K-Pop goodies. Especially favored by the fangirls (and fanboys?) of the Korean music industry, there are quite a number of these shops along the way even before you reach Korean Town.

In conclusion, there aren't many things to do here except eat and shop for K-Pop goodies. But if you've got some time and are craving for some good Korean dishes, then this is just the place to be.
