We visited this museum to see cloisonné by a famous artist, Namikawa, and the works of art were gorgeous, the best we've ever seen. The flowered vases and small plates with views of lakes and boats were my favourites. It's a small museum, but it...More

A great many works designed and made in the home/workshop estate of Yasuyuki Namikawa were sold as export only due to size but many of the smaller items are shown here. The smaller vases and containers are tiny miracles of hand/ eye coordination and nerves...More

On display are some beautiful examples by the master of cloisonne, Namikawa Yasuyuki. Namikawa innovated cloisonne enamels and glazes by using techniques taught to him by German chemist, Gottfried Wagener. Inside you can see the studio, the kiln and the magnificent garden that inspired these...More

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its
blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered
shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street
bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to
peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home
goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center
is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
