This small temple up on a mountain is easily forgotten because of its location. Because it is located in the far end, away from most major sights, it tends to be overlooked. But, the walk to the temple by the river is one of the...More

From the monkey attraction it is approx 1-1.5km hilly walk/ride to this temple. But, compared to the hussle and bussle of every other temple, at 4pm this one walk an amazing peaceful walk next to a river in a valley. Very soothing. 400Y entry is...More

You need to climb up the hill to reach the temple but it's worth the effort. The fee is 400 yen. The morning is a good time to go.

This temple is off the beaten track. We reached it by being poled up the river in a barge, then we walked back. It's a very steep climb up to the temple, but the beauty and serenity of the place were wonderful. The Zen Buddhist...More

Western Kyoto is home to some of the city's best
eccentricities. Kyoto's Saga-Toriimoto Preserved
