The garden is located in Arashiyama, at the exit of the Bamboo forest turn right and you'll see the entrance. You have to pay the admission, which includes a cup of tea and a japanese candy (you can get it in a garden teahouse). It's...More

In February this place was very quiet - you can walk around almost by yourselves. Very beautiful garden and view points, definitely worth of entrance fee! This was the best thing in our Arashiyama day!

Most folks came to this part of Kyoto to see Tenryu-ji and the Bamboo Grove, but few took the trouble to spend some time at this small garden right next to the bamboo grove. I suppose the hefty 1000 yen admission fee scared away most...More

Certainly the location of the villa and garden is pleasant, being on the very outskirts of Kyoto, but I thought the garden was overgrown and in need of attention, which was a disappointment, especially with the 1000yen fee each. There were however nice views across...More

The hefty 1,000 yen entrance fee seems to deter the crowds but definitely worth paying. Carefully tended gardens are beautiful and the views from top stunning. Complementary green tea and okashi a nice touch.

The Okochi Sanso Villa is located close to the Tenryu-ji temple and the famous bamboo grove. Compared to the other two locations, the Okochi Sanso Villa is much less crowded (maybe due to the 1000 Yen entrance fee) and offers amazing sights of its moss...More

Compared to other gardens, at ¥1000 it was on the expensive side, but we did choose to pay the fee and wander through the gardens. In late December the gardens were stark with no flowers, but I still appreciated the beauty for that time of...More

This Zen Garden is tranquil and offers beautiful viewpoints. The bamboo forest was amazing but crowded, I was so glad they have an entry free which meant less crowd. Followed by 15 minute walk, we get some Macha tea and cake to warm us up....More

To be honest, we decided to visit this garden simply because I needed to visit the toilet urgently. Hence my partner joked and said this would be the most expensive toilet entry - at 1000yen. However, once we were inside, we were pretty much glad...More

The visit was well worth our visit. 1000yen pp which included the entrance fee and hot green tea in the tea house. The garden is not as spectacular as other gardens I've visited in Japan but nevertheless worth the visit since you will likely be...More

Western Kyoto is home to some of the city's best
