You can find this shrine at the end of the Nishiki market. It has rows of lanterns above the entrance which will be lovely when lighted. A must visit when visiting Nishiki market.

Visited in February 2017 (not April 2017)Wandering through Nishiki market we came across the Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine. Being nosey, we wandered in and couldn't believe that there was such a peaceful place within this bustling market place. If you're visiting the market then pop you...More

Once you've survived the crazy crowds of Nishiki, reward yourself with this shrine at the end. Hard to miss, just look for the lanterns. Walk along the side toward the back to see additional areas.

Surrounded by chaos and commerce this shrine is a respite from the crazy. It also has well maintained restrooms.

At the end of Nishiki Market street, Nishiki Tenmangu is dedicated to Sugawarano Michizane, a scholar of the Heian Period. It is a very small schrine. So, don't overlook!

Small shrine but a lot of people almost toward the end of Nishiki market. There are many drug store, desert shops, souvenir shops, and restaurants nearby.

We discovered this tiny shrine by accident. After spending the whole morning at the Nishiki Market in order to avoid the rain outside. The shrine was frequented by many Japanese and the place was crowded with worshiping activity. Much to our interest we join-in with...More
