聚楽第址

May 2022

中立売知恵光院のあたりに秀吉の建てた邸宅、聚楽第があったが、築後８年で取り壊されたため、どのようなものであったかよく分からないらしい。今は、小学校の敷地に石碑が建っているだけ。付近には平安京の遺構も多いので、歴史の好きな人はぶらぶら散歩するといい。

正直これだけでは豪勢だった聚楽第を想像することは出来ませんが、豊臣秀吉公が築城した聚楽第、後陽成天皇をお迎えし饗応している歴史が有ります。

小学校の植え込み内に

聚楽第址は中立売通りにある正親小学校北門の東側にあります。豊臣秀吉が築城した京都では珍しい城ですが、その姿は今はなく石碑と駒札が建っています。
隣には平安宮大蔵省跡や唐津小笠原藩跡の石碑やパネルもありますので見学してください。

幻の城郭

　聚楽第は天下人としての豊臣秀吉が京都で政務を執る場所として建築し、のちに関白を譲った秀次の邸宅となった。秀次を死に追いやった後に徹底的に破壊されたことや築後8年で消滅したことから全容は分かっていない。石碑がぽつねんと立っているだけだ。京都の石碑は面白いもので、歴史の変遷をたどることができる。秀吉は聚楽第の前に妙顕寺城にいたが、この跡地を示す碑もANAホテル近くの通り沿いに立っていた。

通り沿いに石碑が

中立売通りに聚楽第址の碑がありました。気を付けないと気が付かず通り過ぎてしまいそうです。聚楽第とは豊臣秀吉が1587年に造営した華麗壮大な城郭風の邸宅です。東西600メートル、南北700メートルという二条城より一回り大きい規模で、周囲には堀がありました。1595年、秀次を謀反の疑いで追放し聚楽第も破却。大徳寺唐門・妙覚寺表門は遺講です。短い期間だったんだなと思いました。

今は開校150周年の正親小学校の敷地の一部になっています。聚楽第でもあり、唐津小笠原家の藩邸跡でもあり、平安宮大蔵省跡でもあり、いろいろ重要な場所であったようです。

正親小学校の中立売通りに面した場所に碑があります。
聚楽第は関白になった豊臣秀吉の政庁兼邸宅。後継者とした秀次に譲ったのですが、秀次の高野山追放・切腹の後は、徹底的に破却されてしまう。10年足らずの運命となりました。
