Enchanting garden - a true oasis in the middle of the city. There are many mini-trails and places to rest, relax, take pictures, and just savor both historical heritage and the natural beauty. It also has a cafe restaurant with nice refreshments.

We had this place all to ourselves on a rainy afternoon. I loved the paths, waterfalls, and bridges. A great place to quietly reflect. 300 yen is a good price, but it could have been a bit bigger for a higher grade.

The park is a little bit of a walk depending where you're coming from - about 15 minutes from the Motomachi area. But once you're there it's a lovely break from the noise of the main streets. I went early in the morning around opening time so it was almost empty. It's quite a small garden so a leisurely walk might take about 30 minutes.
It has many features typical of Japanese gardens and is very well kept. There are a couple of benches dotted around for you to sit and enjoy the scenery. Very tranquil!

Beautiful park, perfectly cultivated, clean, with lots of undescribable beautiful fish and turtles swimming in the park lake. Park also contains a couple of interesting buildings. Definitely must see the place.

You can enjoy beautiful and quiet garden including Japanese garden arranged in the garden in the center of Kobe city. (Entrance fee is 300 Japanese yen/person.)

You can visit here when you visit Kobe (near JR Sannomiya station). You may have diffuculty in finding the parking lots because almost of the parking lots near Sorakuen are full. Visiting here by train is recommended.

A little bit hidden in an unpleasend neighbourhood Sorakuen Garden can be found. Its very nice to sit at the side of the lake and feel the totally calm atmosphere yet see the large city buildings in the background

A small Japanese garden used to be attached to former Kobe Mayor’s residence. It is now belonging to the city. For Japanese garden wise, this is quite average, the admission is very inexpensive, some trees are over 100 years old. Easy access from public transportation.

Sorakuen garden is really an excellent place to relax and enjoy a beautiful Japanese style garden. For a very low admittance fee you can stay as long as you want: Stepping stones, stone bridges, streams and a waterfall surround a central pond in the garden. The garden was completed in the early 20th century and founded by the father of the former Kobe City Mayor Kenkichi Kodera. Now it is open to the public and named "Sorakuen".
