A must-go in Kobe since there are not many distractions in this town. However, very crowded most of the time. The temple there is very nice for photo-taking but the rest is just so-so. Well, at least the Starbucks there is renowned regardless the same taste. Also, the bus going there is really really packed.

Easy to find and located in an interesting part of town. A glimpse into life of yesteryears. Can attract a lot of local visitors but a must see for Kobe.

It is really first time for me see so many buildings from overseas in one street, and other place you could see only local buildings. It seems the local people not care much the street, so not easy to find it. It has taken me... More

Ijinkan, Kitano (Kobe). The area was historically built around homes for foreigners, with residences for British, American, French, German and Scandinavian diplomats and their families.

I took the Cityloop bus to get there. After getting off the bus, turn left and you will find the tourist ticket office. Many tourists turned right but that’s not right. Most museums require admission fees and this ticket office sells package tickets. As I am NOT a fan of architecture, the admission fees were very expensive. One of them... More

in general, museums should be free. They get enough subsidizing and should for the rest fund themselves by sponsorships or donations. I think it is ok to ask visitors to leave a donation, after the visit if they like. But this kind of pseudo museums get to me. It is a nice, restored house, that is it, but paying to... More

European architecture style, beautiful. Make you feel you are in Europe. Not only the look and feel, but also the industrial architecture design is amazing! They overcame the huge earthquake wave, big deal.

Kobe was a big trading port when Japan opened up to foreigners invading their shores in the interest of trading..ie probably trying to make their fortunes in the import/export business. Many people from Europe and America settled in Kobe to do their business and built houses similar to those they knew at home. Hence Kobe has this historic district in Kitano... More

Take the City Loop bus, and just walk around. There are a lot of hills, so if your knee is not the best, stay on the main road.
