This is the place where an atomic bomb was exploded 72 years ago. Now there is only a panel of explanation on the site and nothing else. Genbaku Dome is actually about 160m afar.

There is something utterly sobering about the fact that this small monument is located on a quiet street away from the crowds visiting the A-Dome and the Peace Park and Museum. Visitors are prone to miss this mark of history, as it does not seem...More

The a-bomb swept down the whole area of Hiroshima--you would see stunning evidence of the Atomic Bomb Dome just nearby--but, this single spot, quiet and subtle, is just equally adequately powerful to tell the entire story. 600 metres above this spot, 3,000 degrees Celsius of...More

It was very powerful to be in the actual place where history was made in 1945. I think that the Japanese made a very good decision to leave the Atomic Dome area as it is as a reminder.

A definite visit to this place when in hiroshima. Travel by tram or bus and come here to pay homage to the ones departed

Unless you know where it is located, it is unlikely that you will find it. Located outside the local hospital, just a few metres from the peace park, this is the spot, 600 metres above which, the atom bomb exploded devastating everything around 27 kms.

But the impact of where we stood is a "TEN". This is ground zero, the epicentre, or as they call it, the hypocentre. The atomic bomb exploded 600 metres above this spot, a little off of the intended target at the confluence of the rivers....More

This is in a street about a block from the river and across the street from a hospital. It a stone marker marking the hypocenter of the A bomb. Really not much to see or go out of your way to find.

Tracked this spot down and was glad I did. A small street a a short distance from the dome makes you realise the extent of the devastation and how this city has risen from the ruins to be the vibrant place it is today. Worth...More
