This is one of the smaller shrines but still good and picturesque nonetheless. There were not many people when we visited this shrine. Overall quite a nice experience.

I have been to Sapporo 4 times but this is the first time I have visited this Shrine and in autumn too. Such a memorable visit as the trees and shrubs were in full autumn regalia. Incredible colours vying for attention yet in such peaceful...More

Went there with tour group and it happened to be on a Sunday where 3,5,7 year old children are brought there for prayers. Saw many kids in their best Kimonos and they looked absolutely beautiful! Shrine is not as big as the Meiji Shrine in...More

You will need to walk through the Maruyama Park before reaching the shrine. It was a beautiful journey to the shrine through the snowy park. Amazing scenery. The shrine itself is not as spectacular, but it's good for a visit and a prayer. However, if...More

I am a free thinker. Did not find the shrine too spectacular but blessed with nice Spring weather, we were there and enjoy the visit. The space allows my 2 kids (4 and 6 year old) to run all over.

Took a slow walk through the trees to this unique shrine. Very clean and peaceful. Everyone can say a little prayer and make your wish here. Around the garden you can see Sakura blossoms and other beautiful blooming trees in May.

Hokkaido Shrine is a small temple complex 5-10 minutes by foot from Maruyama Station. It took us a while to get there as the grounds were covered in snow. We did not go inside the temple as it felt disrespectful to those who were there...More

Another popular shrine in Hokkaido. I went there in snow, which was quite interesting. The weather was cold, and there were workers everywhere to clear up snow and prepare for the New Year event. This is a quite shrine, but still has all Japanese rituals.
