I visited the tea plantation as part of a Nexus Holidays group tour. The location is scenic and relaxing. Lots of photo opportunities. We heard a very interesting presentation on the benefits of green tea, followed by a Q&A session with a member of the staff who had extensive training in the specialized area of "tea science." Samples of green tea were provided. We were given the opportunity to purchase a variety of tea products, but I did not feel pressured to do so at all. Along with others, I did make a purchase, which included complimentary shipping to my home in Florida. Overall it was a very pleasant and interesting experience, and one I would recommend.

This Tea Plantation Village is only a short drive from West Lake. We went as part of our TripADeal tour. I was half interested to go as I do drink green tea but I must say, I learned a lot about how they grow and pick the tea here. Its all by hand and by families who have lived on the plantation for generations. Some of these tea farmers are quite prosperous as the legend of the Longjing tea and its superior qualities have spread internationally.
This is the most famous base for producing Dragon Well Longjing tea. We all had the chance to taste the tea which they drink without using a strainer as they eat all the tea leaves too, for its health properties. As we toured West Lake later in the day, we did notice a lot of the cafes there were serving this tea everywhere and it seemed popular with all ages.
And yes, we succumbed to the hard sell, coming away with a small container of the dried tea leaves, as well as the concentrated form of it as FDA approved polyphenol capsules or tablets, equivalent of 8 or 20 cups of tea. Well, it does appear to cure everything so why not give it a go?!!
And as if you needed more, there was a shop that you could buy more tea, tea glass drinking bottles, cups, you name it, they sold it. Yes, we fell for that one too!

Nice area, interesting information. Downside very hard sell on overpriced products, but very much cheaper online from their site in Australia.

Seriously if you want to buy tea, stop here. If you aren’t interested don’t stop, because it’s all about getting you one on one in a room for a high pressure sales pitch! It’s interesting and a good lesson in why you should buy their tea!

This visit was mandatory as part of our TripADeal tour but it was very interesting and informative. 40 minute drive from our hotel and we were there for an hour. A presentation on the process of tea making, sales pitch, which was very good. I didn't buy any but lots of others did. There was also a souvenir shop selling gifts and clothes as well as a shop selling food.

This is lovely area of Hangzhou, and worth visiting. We rented bikes from the city bikeshare program and happily bypassed the astonishing traffic jam that appeared to extend around the entirety of Lake West and included the tea village. The bicycling was pleasant and we were able to stop as we wished to eat and look at anything that caught our fancy. The tea village itself is lovely and worth walking through. Based on the crowds we saw, be prepared to spend the better part of the day getting to and from there if you are driving.

It's definitively a tourist trap. They do the whole show for green tea. If you are short on funds, buy the same product online, if not just get a year's worth of the empress early harvest tea. I'm still sipping mine and don't regret the purchase at all. Your money is better spent here than at the jade or silk stops.

There is a Dragon Well park on 龙井路(Longjing Lu) on the way to the village. Do stop by and see the actual Dragon Well (Longjing). Then head to the village. There are many many tea houses where you can have lunch and sample the tea. The proprietors should be happy to explain the different type. Dragon Well tea (Longjing, 龙井茶) is a green tea that is picked March/April. The young tea are more expensive and has small shoots. When they mature, the leaves are bigger and not as valuable. The tea can be kept in cool storage for about 18 months, but unlike Puer tea, this tea does not keep and is not good once aged.

Green tea has some benefits and yes they try to sell their products. We went there with our group on a China round trip and we did know it is "part of the show" - we didn't get pushed and everyone can decide for himself to buy or not.

We visited the “Tea House “at Meijiawa Tea Village.
We were given a presentation on Longjington Tea , the harvesting and the making of the tea, also the benefits to our body for good health After we were invited to sample some of the tea. It was very flavoursome.
We were then given the hard sell, trying to persuade everyone to purchase quantities of the tea.
This whole area is very scenic and picturesque.
The vision of the tea growing on the slopes of us amazing.

Can I just walk around the tea field and not going to the tea house? I just want to see and take pictures of the tea terraces and hills.

the best way is to take a cab. You can join a tour if you like things more organised.
Hello, I would like know the email address or its web side of the tea factory so that I can buy the Longjing Tea.
