The causeway enable you to "walk across the lake" while seeing the water and the shoreside sights on both sides. "Electric cars" are provided as a cheap and faster alternative to walking. But it's a very nice walk, and takes you past several scenic attractions.

I have been to Hangzhou many times and done the West Lake walk of six miles many times. Bai Causeway (Bai Di) is part of the walk just like Su Causeway (Su Di). As you walk here, there are also many things to see across...More

Of course we walked the causeway but it was a hot day and there was not much shade. Also very crowded. Perhaps the longer causeway would be better for a quieter walk.

Enjoyed walking along the causeway from the north on our way to visit the Zhejiang Provincial Museum. Not as famous -- or as crowded -- as the Su Causeway and definitely worth a stroll.

On the Bai Causeway in the north of the West Lake you can stroll around and do a lot of things, incl. boat renting (20rmb/30min), observing people. Nearby, there are also nice restaurants.

The causeway is another lovey space for walking, sitting and taking in the scenery or sunbathing. There are small stalls along the way to pay for a boat trip across the lake in the ancient styled boats. People also ride their bicycles and do photo...More

Expect this causeway to be very busy on public holidays Pretty with its half moon bridges & within walking distance of the city leads to picturesque Solitary Hill
