This is one of those tourist attractions that you do because it is iconic for the place that you are visiting. The pagoda is completely tourist, hard to see what religious significance it now has. The quality of the interior decoration is great and there is English language information explaining the history of the former pagoda and the construction of the new one. The views from the upper levels would good if there were not so much haze. It was very crowded when we visited on New Years' Eve. You have the choice of a lift or stairs. The pagoda is beautiful when looked at from vantage points around the lake.

The original pagoda has reduced to rubble, which is sad. It is difficult to imagine what the pagoda looked like in the Legend of the White Snake.

Take the lift to the top.
Stunning views.
The pagoda itself has been restored so from the inside with its lift did not look authentic, although when at the top and seeing the views I 100% recommend.

Newly constructed. Nothing to see there, just a view over West Lake. Isn't worth the effort. There were too many people. The elevators were not able to take all people up and down. Too many quers. Tiresome!

Lovely place to spend a couple of hours, with stunning views of the beautiful west lake. Quite funny seeing the lifts inside the pagoda, some might argue a beautiful building stained with the blemish of modern technology - but this doesn't detract from the ambiance or atmosphere of such an eloquent building. Be sure to go up to the top of the pagoda, and spend time not just taking photos but looking around! Try the Hangzhou Black Tea from the cafe, a wonderful taste! I even bought some from the gift shop afterwards!

The visit only took an hour and offers great views of West Lake from various levels and is a great place to take a break from walking. Inside the pagoda features the old foundation from the original pagoda and lots of nice artwork and stories about the pagoda in Chinese and English! The cost to enter is 40 RMB

This is another one of the Top 10 scenic sights in West Lake. Apparently the original pagoda toppled in 1924. A new tower was constructed on top of the original base.

The new tower is constructed to replicate the style of the original tower in the Song Dynasty.

Entry is 40 RMB for adults and 20 RMB for chi

You go there for the view since the pagoda is not old at all. It has been rebuilt following a disaster.

Most people come here for the views. However there are some artifacts from when the Pagoda was rebuilt. They were not particularly interesting to me. There is also a scroll of the story if the white snake inside.
