Wushan Square was situated in front of Wushan Park and Hefang Shopping Street. There were many cars and coaches around the area. During weekends there were many people flying their beautifully decorated kites on the square and some local people also played their musical instruments there. A crowded area but you could experience the atmosphere around.

This square is supported for people to be lie fallow. Children play there, singer show there, and the aged take a walk there.

Last night we went to Wushan Square and it was wonderful. I believe these markets have been restored or built and are not originals however, the atmosphere is lovely. Easy to find, just near Wushan Square. The buildings, lanterns, statues, environment is how we would imagine China. Lots of people but not congested. An array of little stalls, shops, activities. Many locals applying their trade. Glass blowing, sketching, carving, it is all here. herbal medicine shops, tea houses and obviously enjoyed by locals and tourists. Very clean and the kids would love it. We visited after seeing the Fountain Light show on West Lake and as we wandered to the square had the bonus of seeing hundreds of people dancing in the square, children skating and playing. A relief from the days heat.

We went for shopping and we liked it a lot that we visited many times afterwards. It is like a street shopping area with many different kinds of stores: Food, clothes, accessories, toys etc.. It is also very crowded at all times, but it is nice and enjoyable.

Out local friend took us to the shopping, starting with dinner at the restaurant street (next street over). We started at the Copper Museum, which is quite interesting (surprisingly Trip Advisor does not list it separately as an attraction). Though similar to other night markets throughout China, I enjoyed it. Later in the week, I returned during the day. Many of the vendors were open during the day. I also noticed the Cultural Area, which looks intriguing, but I did not visit. However, please note that the PHOTO OF FOUNTAINS ON WESTLAKE is completely misplaced. This is the "cover photo" when I created this review. It's quite a ways away.

Not much to the square. To many people and tour buses around. There are some monuments, pretty sculptured flower bed etc. There are some stores that line the road between here and to Hefang Square tending to sell more knick- knacks - some of which are very pretty. It is also the base by which one can climb the wushan mountain.

The one thing that stands out in Wushan Square is a water show at night. Don’t be confused by the Impressions at West Lake show. This is a free water light show that lasts for perhaps 10 minutes. We were there during Golden Week and since it is free, it was very crowded. Everyone had waving flags and were in a jubilant mood. You can also rent boats there or take your pictures taken in ancient costume. My wife didn’t want to do any of that. During our last day in Hangzhou we had a few hours to kill so we decided to go back and stroll around the lake from Wushan Square. We took a short rest in a little square and were surrounded by people wanting to talk to us. They said they wanted to practice their English and they called that place English Corner. We were amused and took part answering their many questions. Overall, if it’s not too crowded, it’s a nice place to relax.

The square itself is not so exciting but nearby Hefangjie street which runs off the square is defintely worth the walk.
