Nice park full of local culture -- especially on a Saturday with all the dancing Aunties.
I'd recommend you have a coffee in the Cafe on Bamboo Island. Actually don't I like how quiet it is there and I don't want too many people to discover it :)

We had been looking forward to experiencing Kunming's Green Lake, which was once an incredibly poetic spot on earth.
But alas, while walking around the lakeside paths, we were nearly run over by two different noisy tourist trains—one blaring children's songs at full volume, the other mimicking galloping horses.
Cheap food stalls and stands selling tourist junk were scattered everywhere, and the place was swarming with gray-haired, heavily made-up teenagers busy photographing each other.
After half an hour of this circus atmosphere, we fled with ringing ears and tears in our eyes.

The gates open at 8am, but you can walk around the lake earlier for a first impression. Inside it is well cared and organized; various bamboo, flowers and plants, the beautiful lotus leaves and flowers are very photogenic. Nice to see the morning rituals of the locals, it seems as if everyone has their own area. Definitely a nice city park. Wonderful to walk there, and to start your day... There are several tea houses, where Yunn Coffee is the hippest.

This beautiful lake is located right in the city centre. As the name suggests this is green in color, bordered on the sides by green trees, and bamboos.
Lots of pavilions with local people chatting, eating, playing chinese chess. There are also people listening to Beijing opera, the ladies do their dances with all the local cultures. There are local eateries coffee shops and souvenir shops along the way.
A very interesting walk in the morning to appreciate the local lifestyle, worth visiting if you have time to spare.
On the plus side, there are lots of lotus leaves with flowers which add beauty to the surrounding atmosphere, plus white swans and ducks swimming in the ponds.

I’ve travelled enough in China to know that everything is crowded and I accept that, as long as what I’m there to see is worth the crowd and hassle. This was not one of those times. This is basically just a park with some SuZhou vibes in a few spots but generally overcrowded, loud and commercialized as if it were an actual tourist attraction. Don’t bother visiting it.

I read a lot bad reviews here about this lake. To be honest I can t understand... If you are real interested in Chinese culture this park is a must... Kunming people come here to dance Chinese dances and minority dances. They come to play chinese music and sing chinese songs. You will find qigong masters practicing with other people. You will see calligraphy masters writing with water on the ground. You can enjoy watching this activity's in nice teahouses or just participating the activity's. Chinese people will love it if you have luck they even invite you for dinner. Happend a lot times to me. If you are not one of this ignorant foreigners seeing just the negative you will have some real China and many experiances. Chinese people are lovely and friendly if you are open. If you need a break you can go to "the park" in the middle of the cui hu.it s a beautiful place ruled by foreigners. In my opinion one of the best foreign restaurants in Kunming.

No matter what time of day it is this park is lovely. The scenery is gorgeous and it is set right in the middle of the city. It also is a great place to people watch.

Lovely park to go for morning walk. Many Chinese are there strolling, doing exercise and dancing. There are many seagulls. Many stood there long to take photos and feed them. There are shops inside the Park selling souvenirs and there is a temple too. We spent about 1 hour here. There is a bus stop right outside the entrance (南门) south gate

Walk North on Qingnian road about two blocks to Weiyaun road and turn left (west). You will find a Starbucks and a large department store. All around this area are name brand shops such as UniQlo and others. This area is you best bet to find a Zara or Old Navy.
