Every winter thousand of seagulls fly to Kunming to avoid Siberia cold. They are very friendly and the people who live in this city have been friends with them for more than 30 years. Every year I go to feed them and take photos

We went there in a sunny morning. It was very windy but didn't stop us from enjoying feeding the seagulls. It was so relaxing and everyone seemed to enjoy the company of the seagulls. Definitely recommended to be visited by families.

I was told the water has been treated to fix the pollution that has plagued the Dianchi lake for many years, and it's green again. Actually I was more impressed with the nice promenade itself. Nice concrete pavement, very wide, with various sculptures and severa binoculars along the way. There are even some fake sail boats floating on the lake for the purpose of enhancing the scenery. The Western Hill-also called sleeping beauty lies on the other side of the lake, quite a nice pretty place for a relaxing long walk. A must visit spot if you are in Kunming.

This was a nice park to stroll along and view the mountain and lake DianChi. Right near the park we rented an Alipay electric scooter for 2.5 yuan and rode across the Hubin west road which looked like more fun than the gondola cable car.

I took a cable car from West Hill Park which brought me near the entrance to Haigeng Park. This is a natural lakeside park, with good view of Dianchi Lake and the West Hill Park. Admission is free.
There wasn’t much to do unless one is keen to take the boat ride round the lake. I was here just to relax and strolled along the lakeside boardwalk. An hour is sufficient.

It was pleasant temperature to walk around when most of China has been very hot. It was windy and slightly smelly. Quite a bit construction going on. Watched quite a few local old men fishing with extremely long and heavy rods thorough barbed wires in the lake. Can't understand why this place not being left nature to let people enjoy while having man made water play area and other created things.
