Guandu Ancient City is just across the street from Kunming Museum. The place is very big and basically very touristy and also full of locals. You get to try a lot of their street eats - no idea what's what, but everywhere was basically packed. We just had to make do with whichever place that was empty. Try some of... More

In south Kunming across from new Provincial Museum. Very touristy with lots of places to shop local souvenirs and sample local and other dishes. Try the Burmese restaurant in the back for authentic, tasty Burmese fare. Some local museums, but did not visit them.

Stayed two days here and enjoyed the atmosphere and sights of the old town. Few signs in English, but one can get by. One street off the main tourist area has several bars, but only a few offer food. But finding cold beer that is actually cold is a challenge, and one which we failed miserably.

Similar to the other old town in Lijiang and all. The shops all sell similar stuff. Worth a visit to visit the temples etc.

This is not a mega church from the US. This old temple off of Guang Fu Road, is easy to access by several bus lines. Burn some incense, eat some strange food you can't get at McDonald's or just people watch.

Love Guandu - especially on a quiet weekday when you can stroll from temple to temple , stop and have a drunk and enjoy the grounds. The shops outside the exits are also fairly reasonable - but not the touristy ones outside the main entrance. A nice day out - better choice than the Ethnic minorities museum...and even better -... This place is not far from Kunming City n it's easy to get there.. I like the ancient taste buildings around. One must try the local specialities at the food street or stop by a tea house to have a pot of "pu er".

wife and daughter wanted street market in an interesting surrounding. There really wasn't much here. The shopping was middlin. The ancient sites were not as impressive as others and the gardens for strolling were just a few trees and bushes
