We admire the simplicity of the small pagoda compare to its bigger dayantan pagoda. It is not allowed to go inside the pagoda to protect its structure. The surrounding temple with its thousand year trees, big bell are peaceful. This pagoda remind us with the buddhist pagoda in Dali china.

Not what you would expect behind the gates. Well laid out and lots to see. Learn the art of Chinese calligraphy and view the temple. Very good and not a very long time needed to see it.

Included in visit to Small Goose Pagoda was a visit to the Caligraphy Class. There's also a gift shop in same building, but the grounds are well maintained and relaxing.

With more levels than the Large Wild Goose Pagoda and a certain amount of lean to the structure this makes for an interesting hour or two as it's also surrounded by a fairly pleasant park to amble around in.

To see this up close was so cool. I actually took a selfie and a monk happened to step into my photo I was so surprised. The grounds are immaculate and immense it was very hot and walking in the open area was just getting a little too much but how do you stop adventuring here it was so beautiful I believe there is a museum building but I didn't have enough time to venture there maybe next time.

There are many Pagoda's in Beijing, however access to many is difficult. The Small Goose Pagoda can be easliy access on foot.

An interesting addition to any tour. A peaceful place, full of history. An oasis of calm. And water spray at entry to cool you down.

Just as the name suggests itself, this is a small pagoda (in both size & height) compared to Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and this is not one that can be gone up unlike the big one (which I totally suggest doing for great views of the city's skyline). Still, on the small grounds of this pagoda (but not too small since it goes "a fair distance" to the back from the front entrance to the grounds) are a number of temple buildings with museum-like displays in some of them, some towers that "can be" gone up (not sure if they're the Bell Tower & the Drum Tower), a small but beautiful rose garden where you'll get a great photo-op of "the Pagoda with the flowers", and a big grass area with some stone columns & animal sculptures (through the opening to your left from the far back of the grounds); also on the grounds is a nice gift shop with "quite a number" of souvenir postcards to choose from.
And adjacent to the Pagoda is Xian Museum (can be entered directly through the opening to your right from the far back of the grounds) with some colorful pottery figures inside (especially on the basement floor) and some "fairly-tall" fountains outside on the grounds of the museum (pretty-nice grounds to walk around actually).
Coming by metro, Nanshaomen Station (Line 2) is where to get off from which it's just about a 5-minute walk when you'll see the entrance gate to your left (just be sure to go west on Youyi Street after coming out of the station, and ask for Xiaoyanta if you're not sure of walking in the right direction).

Our tour guide brought us here, and immediately we were handed over to a "volunteer" that worked at the pagoda. We received very detailed information and attention in each part of the venue, however when we got to the end of the tour, the volunteer asked us if we wanted to see him write in old Chinese letters.... of course we said yes, but were immediately put in a room where artwork was being sold. After writing the Chinese lettering on paper, we were asked if we wanted to look around and buy artwork. When we left the area after not wanting to buy anything, we noticed a door open to another room in which another foreign couple was being asked to buy artwork. So, just be aware that this can happen and be strong if you don't want to buy anything. Otherwise the visit was interesting and we learned a lot.
