The cave is an amazing feat of nature. I am sure many people would love this but for us it was just ok. The cave is stunning but the experience to see the cave is just ok. There were a lot of people (of course)...More
This was a nice cave to visit. Lights inside and suggestions on what the various shapes look like all lit up with different colors. Loved watching the guy palm and finger paint the Li River in the gift shop on the way out.
Enjoyed seeing this cave and hearing the history. Having visited multiple caves, I prefer the natural beauty of white/yellow-white lights on the rocks. Colored lights make for interesting visuals, but detract from the natural beauty. Crowded and very noisy and many "pushy" people making stairs...More
Maybe other people love this but for us this cave was not a highlight of our visit to China. The cave is ruined by people, by using colored lights, a too loud movie about the history of the cave and the region and tourist guides...More
This made a nice stop off on our way to the airport. Lots of steps up to the ticket area. The lift apparently does not work. Take good shoes as the inside is slippy.
Would not go out of my way to see this but...More
Pros: very big caves, lightening provides plenty of opportunities to take nice pictures. We spent 2 enjoyable hours.
Cons: definitively overrated and overpriced (100 rmb). At the ticket office there are people telling you to take a small train to get to the entrance of...More
We visited here with our private guide and really enjoyed it. The rock formations are very beautiful and the lights make a nice touch, I thought that it kind of sounded a bit tacky before I visited however this was not the case in reality....More
This cave is, of course, already dead. The ecosystem probably died decades ago due to it being open constantly to the public and the sheer amount of tourists that come through and breathe here.
But no matter, this is a must see in the are....More
One of the most extensive cave systems we've seen. The cave features are all well illuminated and the names of the features are a delight (e.g. the snowman). Written inscriptions on the walls date back more than 1,000 years. A minor irritation is the group...More

You can stay 1 full day in Guilin : stroll around , visit the Red Flute Cave, the Pearl museum/ fabric and buy a good quality pearl bracelet or collar for example; other excursions are offered thereI, but I preferred to go to the last destination of this review, . You may go for a drink or even dancing in the old part of the city close to the Lake and the Elephant Trunk, there is also a night market and many food stalls around . Then drive to the rice fields ( minimum 2 hours) in Longshen and spend the day or even also sleep over: walk around the fields, go up (up the mountain by foot requires 2 hours min and good physical condition , or take a seat lift ) to the viewpoint with super scenic views, a coffee shop and little shops from the local people ; you may spend one night in one of the several hostels around (book in advance).
Your next destination is it three hours drive from this ricefields to Yongshuo. Or you go back to Guilin sleep over and take at 9:30 a 4-5 hour noisy boat trip from Guilin to Yongshuo (you have to book in advance and be ready one hour prior departure at the pier).
Yongshuo is one of the best places in China and the best of the area. In Yongshuo you may do many walking excursions , bicycle or motorcycle excursions (although I highly recommend to use the bike and enjoy the peace and the nature around) . Do not miss the non-motor boat tours please !!!! Do not miss the show on the lake at night (buy your tickets are your hotel or through your travel agent, they will provide go-return transportation). There is also a show several times a day about native people, but I haven't been there myself. It is also possible to have a fantastic view from the landscape with the special karstic little mountains, you may take mountingsby balloon or little airplane. Depending on the time of the year, there are also some spot for rafting. There are also some caves to visit and with some special games for young people. In the evening The centre of the town transforms in the very noisy and packed area. There is an ice skating ring underneath the kind of square at one end of the Main pedestrian street .There is also a very big night market full of live and many restaurants food stalls around, but what is impressive is one of the streets with very high music inside and outside, with karaoke , with live bands, and full of young Chinese people. Everything closes at midnight, anyway you can always find a peaceful area in the evening a bit of from this Main Street.
Even the road back to Guilin to take you to the train station or airport has fantastic views.
Enjoy your trip!
