Elephant Trunk Hill is a small and strongly revered park on the Li River in Guilin. It's claim to fame is a stone arch that actually does resemble, from the right vantage point, an elephants trunk. The hill itself is steep sided and quite squat. You can climb up for a view or just walk around - or both. Under... More

We saw the Elephant Trunk Hill from the 2 Rivers/4 Lakes boat cruise but when we tried to see it from land, we were blocked from getting close to the attraction by Chinese police. They were preparing for the Chinese New Year festivities and were bringing in a lot of props and rehearsing for the show. We took some pictures... More

I was looking forward to visit this place but unfortunately when we went there it was too crowded and they were having a show so the view was distracted by crowd and metal structures.

The owners of this attraction, which is next to a river, decided to stop everyone from seeing the rock formation from the main road, unless they paid for a ticket, so they put up very high boards, to block the view. Once inside, the attraction did not impress us. In fact, further down the river and with a zoom lens,... More

They are having some big events here for 2017 Chinese New Year. Guilin will be 1 of the "featured cities" this year in China. They were just setting this up when I was here first week of year 2 stages will be around it, lights on the formation. This is an iconic area for the city.

We couldn't see much of the "Elephant" as is cover with things for the New Years upcoming celebration. It's the rock formation that Guilin is known for, but there are others much nicer. So, my advice, don't pay to go in the park. You will get a better view from the water.

This attraction is considered a must see for tourists. Every itinerary includes it. Not entirely sure why. It's very interesting and yes indeed looks like an elephant's trunk. But there are many fascinating rock formations in the area so it just felt touristy. We look a leisurely stroll through the length of the park. It was a quiet day in... More

Took a lake and River boat tour and passed by this place. The place did not look interesting enough for a specific visit.

Avoid paying the entrance fee unless you want to study how Chinese engineers work. Surrounding place is undergoing extensive renovation.

When I went there, our tour guide just helped us take a few photos of us with the rock. It's nice to look at it and admire it for a while but we drove all the way there just to see it and did nothing else.
