We walked around the area during the day and did the night cruise in the evening. You can book tickets near the sun and moon pagoda and they will let you know where to board the boat. The cruise is quite expensive at 210 each but you will go under many of the bridges in the area, go in two canals and see lots of the buildings and banks lit up at night. We had a full boat so had troubles seeing outside the cabin at the beginning but we lucked out when they allowed us out on the boat deck at the stern because it was too cold for many people. We got good photos on the water but you can get a similar experience walking through the area as well and take your time doing it! If we were to do this area again we would walk around at night as it is prettier at night and free to walk around.

We did the nite tour by boat and it was very relaxing and so beautiful. It is defintely worth it to do this nite time cruise. The river bank is lit up and create a very fairy land like effect. The main attractions is so beautiful lit up and look stunning at nite time.

Closeby to streetfood market, it is the most happening place of guilin city. The towers are lit bright in night and ambience is amazing to take a stroll. It is recommended to walk the complete circle around the place.

We had a half day and luncheon on the Lijiang River Cruise. My family of 8 joined us and my Son had just gotten married in Tian Jin and we were enjoying Elephant Hill Park in Guilin.
Lunch was ok, after we ate, my daughter saw a big brown roach running under the table. We didnt want to eat anymore after that encounter.
What do you expect in a tropical country , high humidity and temps of 38 C.
It was a nice, breezy, scenic cruise and we passed many picturesque mountains in Guilin and Mount Fobo. We disembarked in Yangshuo foreign Market where you could bargain for souvenirs etc. We had dinner at a local China restaurant but one family member got sick after. The washrooms were SQUATS. And my daughters ran over to KFC restaurant, but it was the same, they were all SQUAT toilets. We sure got used to the Squats very quickly. Always bring your own wipes, toilet paper, tissues etc..

We took part on the cruise that travels through the Two Rivers Four Lakes in the evening. The trip is nice because there are performances along the way including traditional music and light games.
We also witness fishing in the traditional Guilin way: with the Cormorant bird.
During the trip we also enjoy the views of bridges with very nice lights

This is confusing, looking from the posts this is not a resort but an attraction area. If you start at Banyan Lake with the 2 pagodas (Sun and Moon) you can walk for miles around this lake. Do yourself a favour and rent an electric boat for a massive....$12 an hour. I wouldn't bother taking the day cruise on Banyan Lake, the little electric boats are much more fun. There's heaps to see, pagodas, arches, Greek architecture, cormorants, a replica Chinese fishing boat and mountain views. This little electric boat will take you around the lake (hire boats close at at 5.00pm) and then walk it around the perimeter at night time, when its's all lit up. The lights of the pagoda come on some time after 6.30pm.

A group of us did this yesterday and it costs around 200Y each (£20). The experience was awful - from the point of queuing up they are constantly shouting at you through megaphones and then onboard the trip was very underwhelming. There was very little to see apart from a couple of padogas (which you can actually see better just walking there for free!). This tour is obviously catered for the local Chinese market.
I was amazed that for £20 there was very little attractions to see - it wasn't even a nice relaxing cruise as the boat was hot and everyone was shouting! To think they charge so much - you would be much better off doing the Li River cruise as this was only £40 and was absolutely stunning...in summary...spend the money elsewhere - the four lake cruise is a complete rip off.

Two rivers and Four lakes resort in Guilin is a new symbol of Guilin city. Besides several small hills in Guilin, water connects all hills and streets of Guilin. Four lakes are the most famous of them. I prefer a raw way to explore this attraction, by foot, since I will get closer to the water and surrounding trees, flowers and tiny bridge above. Taking a cruise at night is my recommendation for my first time friends. The colourful light gives a different sign of natural scenery. 1 hour is spend for one cruise. Book the ticket at least one day before. An amazing inner river experience will be.

If you don't know this place then you haven't been to Guilin. In fact Guilin's best attractions are the parks. Parks and parks everywhere. Inside here located the famed pagodas and classical Chinese bridges. Looks better during the night when they are lighted up. I will advise that you see it both during the day and night. You'll be fascinated like in a fairyland.

We stayed by the lakes and had some lovely walks during daylight and evenings here. At night the pathways and bridges are all lit up and it is very beautiful. There are lots of people about but it was not overcrowded which was lovely. Maps in English and some other English signs helped too.

Do we need to make a reservation in advance for "four lakes 四湖" night cruise on November Wednesday?
(not including two rivers 两江)
Does it often gets sold out even on a weekday?
Written 17 October 2019
1) I think it's no need to make the reservation in advance, because there are 4 or 5 boat tour companies on the shore.
2) If you want to buy in advance, it's available to buy it directly at the Ticket Booth at the Piar, your hotel's travel agency, or your nearby travel agenct.

Doesn't cost much. I guess you'll be all set within RMB500, if I'm not mistaken.

Where do you purchase tickets for the night cruise? How much does it cost? Thank you!
Written 25 March 2016
Ticket counter is right besides the place where the boats are docked/tours begin. There are plenty of boats, so don't worry.
