The Church is a reminder of the past colonial times of Guangzhou. It was built by the French and still today is one the places you must visit in Guangzhou, because its completely unexpected to find a church like that in China.

I was out shopping for pens when I accidentally came across this mesmerising piece of European architecture. The interior is just as glorious as the outside. It has beautiful mosaics. This Cathedral is right next to a school and busy street (what street isn't busy in China?). There are quite a few tourists. Transport: bus or metro

This is the only one Cathedral, we went there saturday afternoon. We couldn't get in because there is a mass inside. The building is look like other Cathedral, with baroque style. You can enjoy the plaza with sitting at some food stall. Carefull of the artist wearing costume, if you took photos with them, it is not free.

I was stunned to discover this fantastic place of worship standing proudly in a busy area of wholesale trade. This Cathedral (called the Stone Chamber in Chinese) was built in 1863 and survived the communist regime. Mass in English is held at 1530 on Sundays which is dominated by the large African community. I never saw any Africans around till... More

I was amazed how popular the cathedral is with Chinese tourists.Nowadays this building is clearly cherished and has been sympathetically restored.

This church is huge and beautiful inside and out. It is a must see if you are exploring the older district of Guangzhou and should be combined with a visit to Shamian Island. People love to get wedding photos in front of the church.
