After 2days in Guangzhou, I went to this market to find out the Closing supplier. This is an amazing street of the shop after shop, and multi-story buildings, selling every kind of fabric known to woman, plus trims, buttons, and anything else a clothing manufacturer would want. If you are a dressmaker or just love fabric, it's worth a visit for the experience. However, most shops cater for manufacturers, and only have samples (you order and go back), or only sell large amounts - and mostly fabric is sold by the kilo! A great alternative is the Highsun Fabric Market, smaller, but still with lots of options and still very good prices. I like the building to the right of the intersection if you stand with Dashtou Rd behind you - 3 floors of fabric stalls, and the 4th floor is all tailors. Look for great linen, starting around 25RMB a meter, and light cotton starting at 10RMB a meter.

This place is a must-see-to-believe. Take the underground to Sun Yat Sen University and follow the crowds. For more than a kilometre on Ruikang Road there are fabric stalls and very large malls selling all kinds of fabrics and accessories. 50 m of sheer fabric suitable for curtains below 50 euros.

Of course the prices depend on the quality and quantity. But compared to anything that I have seen this far the prices are very low. Same or very similar fabric that costs in the wester countries .. say 50 eur / metre would be here a couple of euros.
