- AliaksandrMogilev, Belarus6 contributionsGuangzhou TV Tower, what to consider when visitingAn interesting place, in front of the tower at 22-00 there was a show of flying drones, spectacular (I assume that it takes place regularly) In the tower itself, on the first floor you can buy all the delicious souvenirs to take home (cheaper than at the airport) River boats leave from the tower 100 meters away, every half hour until 22-00, cost about 200 yen The tower itself has an “Instagrammable” view from the bridge across the river along the way. You won’t get any spectacular photos near the tower itself (very close)Visited April 2024Travelled on businessWritten 17 April 2024
- Your Travel Buddy SGSingapore, Singapore31,740 contributionsBeautiful at nightA visit to Guangzhou is not complete without visiting this tower. It somehow feels like an icon of the city. You would need to see the tower from huacheng instead of going straight to the bottom of the tower. From afar, it looked majestic overlooking the Pearl river. The tower lights up at night which makes it even more outstanding.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 22 April 2024
- Adrian CSutton, Massachusetts31 contributionsAmazing panoramic viewsThis was a special once in a lifetime event for my girlfriend and I. We got to the tower about 8:00pm and it was peak time. We waited in line for tickets for about 30 minutes and went to the live person teller instead of the ticket machine because I find that the machines do not always accept my passport. From there you get queued up for the elevators. The Cloud Observation Deck and the Star Observation Deck were okay but wanted pictures with no windows. Next we did the 450 M Look Out. It was pretty busy with a lot of people. Families, kids and couples. The Bubble Tram was sold out so reserve that ahead of time if interested. We got some good pictures here but still a lot of people and beams in our pictures. We paid extra to go to the top 488 M Look Out. We were told it is the tallest open air lookout in the world. This was my favorite part of the attraction. It was not crowded and had unobstructed, amazing views. The city of Guangzhou lights up like a Christmas tree at night. The tower was the highlight of my stay in Guangzhou.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 September 2024
- ShannonMelbourne, Australia1,154 contributionsThe Best Tower Experience PossibleSimply the best tower experience I have had across Asia and one tower that should be at the top of your list. Highly recommend the Bubble Ferrys Wheel as one cycle takes approximately 10 minutes which is way more than enough time to capture great views of the city. One Bubble seats 6 people and recommend coming between 6-7pm to catch the sunset. Queues during our late August visit was short and took under 15mins to reach the very top. The mechanical floor access was my favourite considering you get an insight to the engineering behind the structure. The cafe within the tower however is not only small but quite expensive. Highly recommend but reminder that paper tickets are required and that you also require your passport.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 September 2024
- LisaToronto, Canada306 contributionsCrowdedEven during the day it’s busy, but go at night and the crowds are massive. I suggest buying your ticket in advance to avoid the queue at the ticket desk You get a nice view of Guangzhou but miss the sight of the Canton Tower all lit up. - Sara A105 contributionsCanton Tower :)Enjoyed the canton tower both in and out. The tower has a beautiful design, and the lights in the evening add on to its glamour. We took the bubble tram combo and enjoyed the tram ride after sundown to see the colourful city lights. It was a fun experience. I'd recommend buying the tickets online in advance, especially on weekends, as they run out of tickets by the time you reach the counter through the lines. There's also a Starbucks and McDonald's right near the entrance :)Visited November 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 29 November 2024

At night, you can easily see the amazing color and the color moving around, as if if were a TV. I would recommend this if you have extra time at night.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 January 2025

Surely a must visit landmark in Guangzhou and trust no visitors will leave the city without visiting it, regardless if you do go up or not!
The Canton Tower is located at an intersection of Guangzhou New City Central Axis and Pearl River, facing directly Haixinsha Island and Zhujiang New Town. One can travel here conveniently via the metro trains and alight at the Canton Tower station.
It is currently the tallest tower in China and the third tallest in the world, that is 600m tall, with 450m of its main body and 150m of its antenna. The tower shows a spirit of dynamic Guangzhou welcoming challenges and embracing the world.
On the day of our visit, the place was swamped with lots of visitors and there's a queue for tickets going up. And we decided not to join the queue since our hotel room was located on high floor too and could still get a good bird eye's view of the city.
Do note that there are different price tiers and each will bring you to different levels of the tower. Generally, the more you pay, you will get to the taller decks and that also include some exciting monorail rides at the top of the tower etc. Some ticket packages also include a buffet meal at the restaurant.
And if you are not going up, you can still walk or shop around at the shopping next to it but things here are costly as it's touristy.
Overall, the tower looks nice and gigantic.

Went to the xiao man yap, Canton Tower today . Checks were strict due to covid. Masks, temperature taking are a must. Tickets are personalized with name and passport number printed on the tickets. There's 3 rounds of ticket checking before reaching the tower. Everything was smooth and fast although there was some jostling and shoving during the quene for the lift. However this is typical of daily situation in China so behave accordingly to maintain your place in the quene. To get the best value for your tickets, go up around 6pm, hang around until 630 pm and join the quene for bubble tram to be on the tram just in time for sunset (sunset is now 705pm daily in summer but check the timing to be sure before you buy the tickets). With this timing, you get to see daylight, sunset and night time with 1 ticket price! I would also suggest reserving tickets 1 day in advance to avoid disappointment.

Tourists may see up to 118 floors with high-speed elevators from the highest point on the mountain. The body pressure system, on the other hand, is in perfect working order. The only way to visit the 118th level is to pay more than two hundred yuan for a ticket. You can glance around the floor, which is entirely made of glass, and some of the standing views are mirrored, allowing you to see the ground floor and the river that runs through the building. There are numerous things that are thrilling and exciting for those who seek happiness.

This is the signature landmark of Guangzhou. Its design is modern and architecture spectacular. It looks fantastic at daytime and certainly so in the evening when it is lit up. If you want to go to the top to have a commanding view of the city, better purchase the ticket beforehand on line. It is very popular among locals and visitors.

This is the symbol of Guangzhou. There are many tall buildings in the center of Guangzhou, but there are not many around the tower, so you can see it from many places. I have seen many towers, but I think this tower has a beautiful form different from Tokyo Tower, Eiffel Tower, Skytree, Shanghai Tower, etc. The exterior is a slightly twisted cylinder, and the height is 600m, a little shorter than Skytree (Skytree is Musashino at 634m). But in fact, the main body is 454m.
My friend in Guangzhou was very disappointed that it was only 34m.

I went to canton tower just once even though I live in Guangzhou and always have guests to bring there. It's a very crowded place and to be straight a bit overpriced. But still ”must-see” attraction in GZ, no doubt. We celebrated my wife's birthday on the top floor restaurant and I'd not recommend eating there even if you're very hungry. The food was looking nice but absolutely tasteless and in the end disgusting. Instead of doing anything inside or around canton tower, I'll recommend having dinner in Canton place or in any well-rated restaurant in GZ. Also for a better view its good to check the weather because if it's a bit crowded and you hardly see the building 1 km away means it's not the best day to go up to the tower. As an any big attraction in China, it's better to catch it during the sunset. You'll see how the city getting darker and puts the lights on and totally changes from its boring grey fog to the multicolor silhouettes.

A very commercial activity. Expensive for an average view. Definitely don't waste your money on the photos. We stupidly paid over US$60 for 4 photos (done in front of a green screen). They promised to send digital copies, but never did, and won't reply to my emails.

Walking towards the river, the tower is unmistakable. It is colourful at night, cutting into the night sky in a beautiful display of light. It seems busy at night and gets busier as you get closer. The vantage points of the tower are really quite good and well-designed. Pictures don't always do it justice.

The second tallest TV tower in the world. Built at the beginning of the 21st century. The height of the TV tower is 600 meters. Up to a height of 450 meters, the tower was erected in the form of a combination of a hyperboloid bearing mesh shell and a central core. The hyperboloid design of the mesh shell of the Guangzhou TV tower corresponds to the 1899 patent of the Russian engineer V. G. Shukhov.

Hi I have a 10 hours layover in Guangzhou. I saw there's a direct metro line 3 from the airport to Canton Tower. Supposing I have 6 hours spare there, will I make it for the bubbletram and the skydrop or are queues massive? I would be there at at the tower at opening 9:30am and must leave at 1:30pm
Written 4 December 2024
We went on a Saturday afternoon sunset time The queues all the way to the top took 30 minutes and the tram took 20 minutes. WO to go completely around 2 hours is more than sufficient to cover it nicely.

Can I visit at night as it looks so much better ? Many thanks

One more question. I plan to go to Guangzhou during the National Holiday break. It's not difficult to predict there will be lots of people who want to go on top of the Canton tower. In my case I would like to be at the observatory deck during sunset time. How long will it take to me to buy the ticket? Any rough idea? Do you think it is possible to eventually purchase the ticket in the morning for the afternoon?
I don't think I will buy the ticket for the bubble tram but if I changed idea, would it be possible for me to buy it once I am at the observatory deck? Or do I necessarily need to buy the bubble tram ticket at the ground floor?
Thank you very much in advance for your answers and suggestions.
Daniele.

You can't get any ticket once you reached observatory deck
I is not mandatory to buy bubble tram
There are many packages and individual tickets
In normal days it take 15min on counter
National holiday It will be crowded only one time check on website is it open or not on national holiday

Hello there,
I have a question. If I purchase only the ticket for the observation deck, is it also possible to walk outside or do I have to buy a different ticket? I am not interested in purchasing the ticket to get on the bubble tram. I only would like to walk outside once on the top? Is it possible to do so with an ordinary ticket?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Daniele.

How to purchase 2 tickets for tower for 5th April evening??
Written 17 February 2019
In the tower on the first floor you can buy a ticket. But see that this day was clear weather. If there is a bad time, you will spend this money in vain. If you want to look at Guangzhou from a height for free, go to the hotel four seasons on the 70th floor, there is a restaurant where you can drink coffee and make beautiful photos.

Is this tower wheelchair friendly?
Written 1 December 2018
Hi 77sharifah- this tower was open around 2010. I did not specifically noticed the wheelchair aspect, but there are many hostesses around, and I think it's best for you to enquire directly with them.

Hi 👋.
I wish to know if a colour photocopy of my passport is enough for me to enter the tower. I will be visiting the tower in January. Visibility wise, Is this a good season? What is the best time of day to visit? Thanks for your help.
Written 9 November 2018
Don't know about the Weather forecast in January but you need your passport if you want to go to attractions in China. In most places foreign people are required to show a valid passport and visa. We visited the tower in the afternoon and it was not very full as they are well organised and they have many lifts taking visitors up to the tower. I am british and went there in August and it was so hot
