    Do not miss it
This is the signature landmark of Guangzhou. Its design is modern and architecture spectacular. It looks fantastic at daytime and certainly so in the evening when it is lit up. If you want to go to the top to have a commanding view of the city, better purchase the ticket beforehand on line. It is very popular among locals and visitors.

Bubble car ride on Canton Tower, Guangzhou
We opted for the bubble car ride on a slightly windy day. We got to the tower around 9.45 am so not too busy. The lift is very fast and we got out at the first observation deck. You can get photos if you want to. I am not good at heights but the bubble car was an experience not to be missed. The idea of the hyperbolic structure was invented by Vladimir Shukhov and patented in 1899. Thank you Naty for your review.

    Tall landmark of the city!
Surely a must visit landmark in Guangzhou and trust no visitors will leave the city without visiting it, regardless if you do go up or not! The Canton Tower is located at an intersection of Guangzhou New City Central Axis and Pearl River, facing directly Haixinsha Island and Zhujiang New Town. One can travel here conveniently via the metro trains and alight at the Canton Tower station. It is currently the tallest tower in China and the third tallest in the world, that is 600m tall, with 450m of its main body and 150m of its antenna. The tower shows a spirit of dynamic Guangzhou welcoming challenges and embracing the world. On the day of our visit, the place was swamped with lots of visitors and there's a queue for tickets going up. And we decided not to join the queue since our hotel room was located on high floor too and could still get a good bird eye's view of the city. Do note that there are different price tiers and each will bring you to different levels of the tower. Generally, the more you pay, you will get to the taller decks and that also include some exciting monorail rides at the top of the tower etc. Some ticket packages also include a buffet meal at the restaurant. And if you are not going up, you can still walk or shop around at the shopping next to it but things here are costly as it's touristy. Overall, the tower looks nice and gigantic.

Night views are the most stunning when the tower is lit in beautiful, changing colours. Great city views from the observation platform.

Having previously travelled up to the restaurant in our last trip to Guangzhou, which was during an afternoon, where photos from the glass windows were okay!
This time we went in the evening, via subway, Canton Tower station, and then paid 60 RMB to go up to ground floor restaurant, from the lower level stairs, which qualified us for 2 drinks, avoid the people crush and got some lovely photos over looking the Pearl River to Zhujiang New Town, and then some photos of the Tower, while watching the boats in their glorious colours motor past in all their splendour!

A very commercial activity. Expensive for an average view. Definitely don't waste your money on the photos. We stupidly paid over US$60 for 4 photos (done in front of a green screen). They promised to send digital copies, but never did, and won't reply to my emails.

As a local and a sophomore in Canton, I'm honored to give you a list of my suggestions.
Canton Tower is undoubtedly a landmark and the tallest TV tower in the world.
It includes plenty of interests like 450m- and 488m-viewing platforms, 480m-free-fall, 460m-ferris wheel and etc. And much more things you can explore on Canton Tower.
However, I'm not very recommend it.
- First, as a visitor, you might see a tower standing near to Pearl River lonely with a little equal height skylines to be served as foil. That means it’s not very well to take photos near to tower if you want set it as a memory.
- Second, Canton Tower is a modern and a 21st century building, just that... It's a famous place to go although, but none for more meaningful reason... Rather than wasting your time on this tower, it's better to be yourself at Yuexiu (Jyut Sau)!
- Third, if you have been to some modernized city such as Shanghai and climbed onto the Oriental Tower (and buildings assembly this), you can drift away from Canton Tower. Because they're very similar in sightseeing functions.
Well, that's all my suggestions. If your situation is in line with what I've said, you can have a better choice. If not or interest in this tower, enjoy yourself!
