Located in downtown, very near to the Canton Tower. It has an interesting architecture, shaped almost like the Esplanade theater in Singapore. A place for the arts and culture.

Interesting design. Looks much better from the outside than in. Managed to catch the blue man group performance there. Staff there helpful with the purchase of tickets. Very limited selection for eating places within the building.

This building is impressive. Totally and art piece. Even if you don't go inside, admiring the exterior is enough to figure out how good it is.

A Song for the Senses

In the New Town Zhujiang District in the central district the eye catching Canton Tower dominates the skyline, but along the riverfront somewhat off to the side of the Mall of the World is a hidden gem of the Guangzhou Opera House.

The Guangzhou Opera House will be celebrating it’s 10th anniversary this year, and yet it remains as fresh and forward thinking as when it originally open. Designed by Zaha Hadid it is as beautiful experience outside as inside. Even if you don’t have an event to attend, it is definitely worth the visit and walk around, surrounded by wonderful art, and a lovely outdoor bar to enjoy the evenings magnificent views of the river front.

If you can get a ticket for a show inside, it is definitely worth it. I have attended Broadway Musicals, concerts, and symphony concerts. The inside reflects the same gracefully flowing lines as the outside.

Beautiful architecture ...

This Zaha Hadid- designed building is really pretty and make for some pretty photos. I was not there for a performance, but just to walk around its grounds. Good area to be visit and take in modern Guangzhou.

Truly very sad .....

We had chosen to visit Guangzhou based on seeing Zaha Hadid’s work here on the Opera House; how very sad we feel (for her) to see this majestic building in such a sorry state of disrepair - Zaha would turn in her grave if she could see her work so uncared for.
A very strong and serious programme of maintenance needs to be completed here. The building is less than ten years old and already looks more than fifty!!!! We fear for people watching performances here as in our opinion the building is rapidly becoming unsafe.

I saw this attraction above the small WeChat program Canton Laowai. The buildings here are very nice, suitable for taking photos, and it is also a great enjoyment to watch the show here
