This is a typical tourist trap location, meant for those who love taking pics. The place is very artificial and is a poor replica of the more popular Western amusement parks/gardens. Not exactly a fun place, but definitely worth checking the box, which we did.

The Sunflower Garden has something for everyone, with the facility also being a major amusement park for young children. The park was separated by famous characters and or flower themes. I went for the flowers and wasn't disappointed. The major restaurant was well designed and picturesque, where the banquet is good value if your in a group. We travelled in The Chinese New Year period and it wasn't overcrowded, but it was getting crowded when we left at 2.30pm. To get to the Garden from Guangzhou by public transport can be time consuming, but by a group sharing a taxi for the day is much more pleasurable. We negotiated $1,000 RMB for the day shared between four of us and we also went to Nansha Wetlands Reserve.

The location is almost at the outermost of Nansha. Public transport through metro and bus lines as well as taxis can be taken. We went there at the weekend with our sons school class, it turned out our school was not the only one who had that idea. So as a result it was tremendously buisy, at least during the time we went, 10.00 (am) to 16.00 (4 pm) o'clock, which I would rather regard as the peak time. The park became less crowded around 15.00 pm, so if you can afford it and do not have to consider time better go there either during the week or past 15.00 (3pm) hrs during bankholidays and weekends. The park itself is beautiful, naturally many kind of colourful flowers embedded in an environment of green plantations and fishfarming ponds like scenery surrounding the park. There are several themes respresenting different areas of flowers and amusement. Latter offers sliding on huge slides, boat rowing in small palstic boats being engined with your arms and many more. We had lunch at the hotel as we wanted to escape from the crowd. The food was relatively high priced, good but quite overseeable, at least for the peaces of meat being given. The hotel can be entered from the park and is fun to look at. It allows to relax a bit from the outside and have some space before diving backt into the fun. The children enjoyed it a lot and had many questions to ask as well as a lot to learn that day. It is a great combination for the youngsters as they can experience new knowledge about nature and combine it with fun. We will take our boy back again, then during the week where no public holiday is.

Four of us attended the sunflower gardens today, paying 150yuan only to discover that nothing was open. After 15 minutes of wandering about, everything was run down and dirty. After believing it was a waste of money as we couldn’t do any of the activities, we went back to the entrance desk and asked for our money back. After 10minutes, we were told to go to the service centre, which then led us to the manager who is pictured below. He was the most unhelpful and rude man, who wouldn’t listen to us and pretended to be on the phone to ignore us. Hence why he didn’t want his picture taken. After 30minutes of staff members pretending to be on phones, through pure anger we had to leave as it was clear they were not going to give us a refund. A terrible, dirty run down place definitely not worth 150yuan, it’s not even worth going if it was free.

We had heard a lot about the park and really wanted to see all the various types of flowers. The flowers did not disappoint. There are thousands of sunflowers, lavender etc. There's also an attempt to make it look like an Asian Disneyland with Anime characters, Hello Kitty and what-have-you. The rides for little children including a train ride through the valley of flowers is exciting. But only go there if you have children less than 5 and you are dying to get out of town. It's certainly not worth the security minute drive out of Guangzhou.

We went there on 1 Jan 2013 as part of a package tour. As it was a public holiday, the garden was crowded. Still, the garden is big enough such that you do not need to jostle around to take photographs.
We find it very pleasant to walk around the garden..enjoyed the sunflowers and lavender and some others. The admission ticket include a lavender flavoured ice-cream which can be redeemed at a booth inside. Nice:)
Other than the flowers, there is an area where baby animals are kept and a playground.
We spent around 2 hours there.

Garden is ideal for young kids, photographers and wedding couples.
The Garden is celebrating its 10 anniversary in 2012. Visitors above 50yrs of age and pregnant women can enjoy a special rate to the park-35yuan, which includes entrance fees, sunflower chicken set meal and a packet of 500gm Thai rice. Offer ends on 30 Jun 12.
There are many themes in the Garden. We saw sunflowers, lavendar, roses and other flowers. The toilet facilities are clean and pleasant. There are many decor suitable for wedding couples. Kids will be delighted with the plentiful cartoon & animated characters. There is an area dedicated to Princess Diana and her 2 children.
We went on a Sunday and travelled via Metro Line 4 to Jiaomen before changing to a public bus 23(3 stops). Bus 23 is only available on Sat, Sun and public holidays. On a normal day, one can travel by bus 2 ( about 32 stops). The whole journey took slightly more than 2 hrs each way.

This place is a distance from central Guangzhou through public transport. The entrance fee is RMB150. Definitely not worth the effort to travel all the way there and take the photo shown, as it will be the only scene worthy of photo taking.
Not advisable to go unless you are bored to the core!

It is a great place for kids.. admission includes most of the kids activity. 170RMB for an adult.
We went in March, the flowers were not in the best season yet.. but still alot fun for the kids. It has kids play ground, indoor show, free train ride.
Bring your own food, it is lack of good snack or food...

We went there late march with our baby. The garden was "nice" like what you might find in a small botanical garden in a western country. If you had young children however, they would probably really enjoy it. We stayed at the hotel in the park. It was expensive, but the best service of any hotel I have stayed in in China - staff were always attentive, smiling, polite and eager to help. The rooms were also nicely decorated. We walked around the garden on Sunday for a few hours and took many photos. We returned the next day but the place was overrun with school children... So we didn't stay too long. It's a bit out of the way. But pleasant enough for a one night. Unless you had young children you probably wouldn't spend more than two or three hours there. Not also.. There is nothing much else around except factories.
