The Lenin statue is a landmark in Irkutsk. We always tried to visit Lenin statues in all the towns and cities that we traveled through on our Russian vacation. This statue is standard, as Lenin is in a pose with right hand upraised and left...More

I can not think of a Russian city without a Lenin Monument. Thus, Irkutsk also has one. It's no different than the others. You don't have to make a special effort to see it, it's located in one of the main streets.

I f you will move to Irkutsk probably you will see this monument to Lenin. It is located in one of the most big avenue in the city. The monument is nothing of special, maybe just to spend few minutes in front.

The most interesting aspect is its continued presence on the main avenue called Lenin Street. The statue is typical of Lenin statues with outstretched hand pointing to the future. If you have never seen a Lenin statue and you are in Irkutsk, take a look.

This statue to Lenin is very traditional in Russia. It's a nice statue and in a nice square. Nothing too special, but nice all the same.

As far as statues go, this is a good one! My first day in Irkutsk I remember walking past this statue and thinking "I've arrived. I'm really in Russia". I still feel that way every time I pass it.

A huge statue but nothing in particular to recommend it, although there are some decent tourist shops directly behind it and the Lenin St Coffee has excellent wifi.

He stands with arm raised as in many statues around Russia. One cannot help but recognize the founder of Russia and thus the Soviet Union.
