The Decembrists formed the core of a society that made Irkutsk what it is today, so a visit here is mandatory. It is a little bit hard to consider the home and its furnishings as "exile" but I guess for former royalty it could seem...More

The Volkonsky Manor, while not full of period pieces, does have some family mementoes including lots of photographs and a lovely music box. Family descendants have donated some pieces to the museum but it does give a glimpse of the live these folks lived. Worth...More

My wife and I enjoyed this museum and deliberately went to look over the exhibits. This gives a good overview of the history of the Decembrist plot and their subsequent exile. The wives of the Decembrists followed and this additionally gives a glimpse of life...More

An interesting museum but a bit prosy, lots of small print captions to read. The house has been restored badly and the interiors are quite obviously brand new.
