This a Soviet square with the City Hall and the 'Big Ben' of Krasnoyarsk in one side and the Opera and Ballet Theater and the Apollo's statue in the other (it's crossed by a road). During Christmas time there is a market there, entertaiment for...More
Broad Soviet square over looking river. Summer outdoor cafes & food stands for al-fresco eating. No English anywhere, so be prepared to point & gesture. Lovely fountain honoring Siberian Rivers is only thing worth seeking out.

What an amazing place to visit in winter! Beautiful ice statues, huge Christmas tree with spectacular lighting, little market to buy sashlik, decorated horse carriages, locals strolling around, kids sliding down ice slides, Yenisei river covered with vapour, Genadij the cloud along the embankment... Ah,...More
The whole reason for the visit to this city was the geocache in this square. It didn't dissappoint, a lovely square with benches to rest ones tired feet. I should imagine in winter it would not be so inviting to sit for too long :)
