Wonderfull museum in heartbreaking position with a wonderful view of the river Volga. Incedibile medieval Icons collection. Russian contemporary painters and historical pictures.

It's a huge museum with a huge collection from russian paintings through various decades or centuries. You even find works of Malewich and Jawlensky and others. In the upper level there is also a gallery for temporary shows of contemporative art.
Although the museum is not very much adapted for the foreigners' visits it's worth seeing. A large collection of European and Russian paintings by Perov, Repin, Makovskiy, Kramskoy, Levitan, Korovin, Nesterov, Rerikh, Kustodiev etc.
