Modern Passage is an architectural monument and modern shopping center. Passage is a real covered street same as Mikhailovskay st. The main Passage gallery connects Italianskaya st. and Nevsky prospect. When Passage opened its doors to customers for the first time in May, 1848, the shopping center was one of the first of its kind in Russia. The complex was comprised of three-storey galleries with an enclosed promenade through the center under a glass roof. Among Passage visitors were Dostoevsky, Shalyapin, Ostrovsky, Galina Vishnevskaya, Maya Plisetskaya and many other writers, actors, painters, scientists and sportsmen.

This arcade has a nice architecture (like you have some in Brussels). No idea of the shops ... just looking at the nice light and steelwork.

This arcade is definitely worth a visit for the architecture - very late 1800's, gorgeous! The shopping, not so much - mostly quite touristy. There was however one excellent fur shop, where my husband bought an astrakhan hat with which he was thrilled! But as...More

Found a good shop for fur coats in this little mall. Number 21. Reasonable pricing and staff speak enough English to help you! Didn't end up buying on this trip but will definitely go back next time.

This shopping arcade is well hidden and if you can't read Russian, good luck finding it. Have your hotel mark it on your map - between the Grand Palace and the next large street. Look in every shop door till you see steps going up...More

Visited this place with my wife. Good interior. Only few shops. Good for cosmetics. Not for other shopping. Good desert bar in the building. But Wont recommend this place for shopping

Came in out of the rain into this arcade after we noticed a "Cabaret" style coffee shop situated on the bridge between the two sides. Had some lovely cake and good coffee.

I discovered this hidden gem while taking a walking tour. This place is just wonderful! You may think you went back to Paris but still, you're in St. Peter :)

High end expensive shops - not really anything special with this mall, a lot better mall with more selection and mixture of stores at bigger one not far away from Fontanka.

Well, I did not spend more than 5 min here, shops are pricey and not really set for western taste, the nice part is the building itself, well maintained and clean. Not really a must.

Beautiful architecture, but too sleepy for my taste. Shops all have "anonymous" entrances (door without windows), and I felt a bit "cornered" in these small shops with the small exit. Not my cup of tea - it makes it to 3 stars because of the...More
