This cathedral lies along cental nevsky prospekt. quite grey from the front but walk alongside the canal and it is quite beautiful. Better views of the dome. WORTH A STROLL AROUND IF IN THE AREA. GOOD VIEWS FROM CANAL TOO

This Cathedral is modeled after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and is quite impressive. It was dedicated to the defeat of Napoleon and you can see two Russian General statues as you approach the cathedral. Definitely worth a visit!

For those readers of 'War and Peace' Kutuzov was the Russian Field Marshall who defeated Napoleon. There is a portrait of him next to his tomb. To me this was a highlight! The Cathedral itself is magnificent.

Didn't spend much time around it. Instead, had a meal in a Cafe/Restaurant called "Singer" opposite, an American Coffee Shop like and the food was good and nice ambience.

Personally speaking this is a relic of bygone age, like most of the architecture in St. Petersburg it is overbearing and simply too big. The impact it seeks to impose belongs in another culture and another time.

Of all the churches that I have been to, this one would always be cherished as of the most beautiful. A must visit when you are there in SPB even if for a couple of hours. Right in the center of the city and no charge for entry

Huge cathedral, active for worship, very impressive by its resemblance with St. Pietro in Vatican. The position of the building on Nevsky Prospekt makes it a landmark of the town.
