We had a very good guide who took us through the highlights very competently despite high visitor numbers. Afterwards we returned to peruse at our leisure. What an amazing collection, not to be missed.

Spectacular and totally mind boggling. Your body and mind will wear down from going from one awesome painting/sculpture to another. Stunning material on exhibit.

This palace/museum is unbelievably beautiful. Downside: mobbed with people, hard to move through, see and hear. The biggest compliment to the Russian people that they carefully restored it to its former beauty before WWII.

Sorry, I don't do weather forecasts....assume wet and cold ! I took over 400 photos and half were indoors in churches and palaces, just assume that you will not use flash.

ALL DAY at the Hermitage? Is there any shore excursion for a cruise ship passenger to spend all day at the Hermitage in St Petersburg? Two hours doesn't seem to do justice to the place! Only option I can find is to get a regular visa so I can do it independently.
