The building is amazing and seeing so of the old palace rooms such as the throne room were astounding. The place is packed with treasures from all over the word, but there is just so much to see it becomes daunting and we found ourselves becoming complacent and walking straight past some artefacts and treasures without even looking at them.... The Hermitage is a stunning museum, both on the inside and out. The details on the exterior are absolutely amazing. Inside, you've got a collection of beautiful artwork from the best to ever paint a picture.... room and after room! The place is massive and to get a good understanding, best go with a guide. Buy tickets ahead of time,... More

The museum is so big so you need at least 3 hours for visiting it(of course if you are going to explore every room in details you will spend less). I've been to many museums in Europe but this one is my favourite.

Believe all the reviews you can find here: this is an amazing place. It totally would make no sense to visit St Petersburg and skip this. It is not as big as Le Louvre in Paris, but you easily wander around a day or two. If you just want the headlines, download the excellent app and purchase the €2 one... More

Enjoyed our time at the museum! Its such a bigggg museum you need minimum 3 hours just to see the important pieces. Guide is recommended a) they can let you in from the back entrance and skip the huge line b) you need someone to guide you in coz some of the art pieces have good hsitory behind it. Very... More

This place is a-mazing. It is literally a maze - don't get separated from your party or you may never find them again! Every room is more ornate and jaw-dropping than the last one. There is so much history here, and the art has been well preserved and is showcased very well. It is mandatory to check your coat and... More

Amazing but confusing!! Loads to look at. I particularly enjoyed the period costumes. I couldn't get over the intricacy of them.
