Very beautiful building inside and outside. I was at the conference, but the excursion can be ordered very easily. It has been renovated recently and looks greatly . It has been built by Prince (Knyaz) Potemkin Tavricheskiy in the mid of 18 cent. It can be visited either in winter or in summer. Think in summer it is especially wonderful... More

Here, in the Tavricheskiy Gardens or more precisely, in its northern tip, is located this grandiose Taurid Palace. That is surely one of the most large and impressive palaces in St Petersburg. The building of Palace was built for famous Prince Potemkin, the close confident of Catherine the Great. It took us a great deal of time to walk around... More

Although the season is summer when I visited, I still felt very cold may be I underrated the climate of Russia especially I only wear shorts. The transportation to Tauride Palace from downtown have ship, bus or subway. I think Ship is most convenient and shortcut and the boat ride is just around one hour. Unluckily it was raining and... such a massive complexe of buildings. the palace lays close to smolny cathedral. it's facade and the neighbouring buildings that are part of the 'estate' are vast. and beautyful .

It was a palace since XVII century and now after all renovation it became an office of CIS countries assembly. They even bought and put a small electric organ in 2011, but it seems huge amount of money were stolen at this bargain (as it always happens in russian state burocracy) and the organ is pretty cheap and sounds terrible!... More
