The memorial area includes a couple of others as well and does include the memorial to the Kursk submarine disaster as well as other loss of lives in peacetime for submarines and ships at sea. Also a good view over the waterfront.

When in Murmansk you may as well check this out, the Kursk memorial and the church that sits near them both.

It's nearly impossible to rate a Memorial ... so many lives lost one becomes numb to the extent of the tragedy called War. I easily could have rated it higher. The flags adorning the inside of the major structure are simple but impressive. The salvaged...More

This place has no much for offering like "spectacular", but is a place you must visit. For me, in the personal, is the Kурск Memorial, where a part of the submarine is, and remember the tragedy where 118 soldiers die.

This memorial is bigger than the average in Murmansk and consists of a tower located on a hill, a few kilometres out of the centre. Easy enough to walk to, but a bit unpleasant on a rainy day. There are nice views over the city...More

Park at the bottom of the flight of stairs and make your way up. The lighthouse, the church and coning tower/monument to Kursk tragedy are all nearby.

Park, tower, and chapel perched on a hill above the road leading from Murmansk to the Alyosha monument. A great view of the bay below. Lots of stairs- and if it's raining or snowing (which it often is) be careful of the footing. Definitely worth...More

The lighthouse is only a replica build specifically for this memorial. The only incident I could remember the 2000 Desaster when the Kursk submarine exploded and all 118 on board died. Their names are listed here. Also part of the submarine is displayed there.

This place has a church, which is small but cozy and beautiful and you see lots of people always paying tribute.

I visit this place in Jan 2014. Whole Murmansk was covered with snow. Amazing view of nature. There is a light house, a huge anchor and a memorial of soldiers.
