Moscow's Peter the Great monument definitely stands out at 322 feet of stainless steel, bronze, and copper and is housed less than a mile from the famous Kremlin wall. The monument, created by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, depicts the Russian czar at the wheel of a ship with a document in his hands.

This monument is on the Moscow River, we had see it when we went to Gorki Park, maybe big but not nice.

This is one huge statue and certainly falls into the category of "must be seen to be believed"! Epic proportions, though not necessarily correct with the depiction of Peter the Great much larger than the boat, it is a fantastical creation that would not be out of place in a Terry Gilliam design.

Huge statue which can be viewed from the nearby park (as well as many other places for quite some distance away!). It is not a beautiful piece but it is striking in its size and the message it perhaps sends - many tourists will likely lower their voices and opine on what it says about Russian culture regarding displays of... Just love this statue which is so quirky and original, could look at it for hours. It is huge and has so many aspects to look at. Seems very underrated. A must see.

The statue is a 98 metres high monument to Peter The Great. It was erected in 1997 and commemorates 300 years of the Russian Navy. Weighing around 1000 tonnes, it is one of the tallest structures in the world. Also it is considered to be one of the ugliest buildings in the world by some. The statue is fascinating and... More

Interesting piece of art - a statue by the river, good to watch from many points to grab the whole power of it. Don't save much time for it, as it is enough to take a look continue sight-seeing.

The monument can be viewed at a distance from the bridge in front of the Christ Cathedral in Moscow. It is interesting from a historical point of view.

There have been a lot of people on Tripadvisor that have called this statue ugly. Please go and see it yourself and make your own decision as I did. It is a truly remarkable and intricate piece of sculpture that towers into the Moscow sky and is an amazing sight. Not to be missed!

This will be one of the worst monuments you'll ever see. So many things are wrong with it: location, proportions, aesthetics, size etc etc But as another reviewer said, it's also very Russian in all its contradictions and confusion. Maybe not quite a must see but surely a great piece in your collection of world curiosities.
