Why list this as an attraction? Because the folklore brands this stone platform as a place for public execution. That's what we would have come out believing had the local guide not enlightened us. As per her, no executions happened here. Just the announcements or...More

Lobnoye Mesto is easily an overlooked stone situated in front of St Basil's Cathedral. Not interesting.

There's nothing really to see and do at this historic execution spot. Still, while visiting Red Square, you might as well take a glimpse of it for a minute or two.

While this has a place in Russian History, it is easily overlooked in the shadow of St Basil's Cathedral. When we were there, it was screened off, so unable to get too close to see it, but don't feel that we missed out.
