This tribute to Marshall Zhukov, while fairly recent in construction, is still an impressive statue recalling his victories over Nazi Germany in WWII. Located in the Manezh Square, close to the gates to Alexander Gardens, it is a good meeting place, with various groups using it to meet up when we were there (and did just that!). It also attracts... It is right next to the Red Square and Alexandrovsky Park which is a great location. Also, there are good places to eat, sit and listen to live music close by!

I don't think this monument is of great historical value. Firstly, it's quite modern (was erected in 1995 for the anniversary of WW2) and secondly, the proportions of figures both Zhukov and the horse are wrong. The monument was created according to the photo and if you have seen it you will certainly notice this. Russian people connected with horses... More

This statue of Zhukov on horseback is vast in size and is situated just at the entrance to one end of Red Square. It is a very intricate piece of work and worth seeing.

And impressive statue of a very decorated soldier on a horse. An interesting gesture of his right hand and most astonishing, is that the horse is trampling over a Nazi Eagle and a swastika. Sobering stuff and considering the price that Russia paid during World War Two, this monument is fairly appropriate.

When you walking in the Red Square , you can't miss the statue of Marshal Zhukov. If you don't know who is , just google it and you will appreciate the statue and you will understand the position of the statue and the gesture of the Marshal.

Here, in the front of the State Historical Museum, on the opposite side of the Red Square, that is, on the Manezhnaya Ploshchad, stands a gorgeous monument to the Marshal of the Soviet Union, G.K.Zhukov. We saw many monuments in Moscow, during our stay and this one is of the newer built. It was erected on May 8, 1995, in... More

This is a relatively new monument in Moscow. It would probably not have been erected in the time of the USSR as the politburo took a dim view of individuals stealing their limelight. Georgi Zhukov was a remarkable soldier even by world war 2 standards..He oversaw the defence of Leningrad before being sent to Moscow to stop the city being captured... More
