We splurged on tickets to watch Don Quixote because who doesn't love theatre, ballet and fantastic costumes? The there is so grand and beautifully intricate. The performance itself was good with very talented dancers. The costumes did not disappoint! Bonus...A chance to dress up. I recommend this if you really love theatre.

After a visit at the Bolshoi Theatre in May 2016, we have chosen a modern ballet at the Novaya Scena. Surprising performance of over 100 participants. We pay 10.000 RUB (+/- 166 €) for two. To our surprise the assistance was complete on a Thursday evening.

Simply exquisite. Watched the ballet a few days ago... No words can describe the magnificence of this theatre and its beauty not to mention the ballet in itself which is beyond description. A must see if you visit Moscow.Must visit beautiful building and at least one theatrical performances. At the time of book tickets at least 3 months prior. Enjoy

We tried to visit the Bolchoi but even if the security guard wasq nice, we never could access the theater. Be prepared for that: it is just opened at 11.15am on Mon, Wed and Fri. Terrible

I went for the tour on a Friday morning. Tour starts at 11 am but there was already a qeueu when I arrived at 10am. Wait in front of door 12 and someone will grant access to 20 tourists per tour (2 tours only: Russian and English). The day I came they only allowed 15 per group. Very interesting! The... More

As we had tickets to the Bolshoi New Theatre for our only night opportunity, we opted for the English morning tour at the Bolshoi and felt we had a win-win solution. Whilst we didn’t see a ballet here, we had a wonderful tour behind the scenes. As mentioned in other reviews, you do need to be there well before the... More

Whether it's the ballet or the opera - new stage or old - this place is magical. Just book the tickets a week in advance and you'll be happy. Tip: check the seating chart online for visibility. The new stage basically all seats are fine, but the old theater has some very limited view seats. No matter what it's worth... More

Watched "Swan lake" ballet. Got a feeling that it could be improved in terms of technique cause the dancers were not moving simultaneously when they were expected to. Another feeling that the performance didn't touch the soul... Whenever I wanted to applause it was because I've realized that the dancer had performed a really difficult act but it lacked the... Staying in Tverskaya

Neighbourhood Profile
Tverskaya
Tverskaya can’t be discovered with just a first glance, the neighborhood is shaped around a long street populated with well-known shops and brands. But it’s more than shopping that makes this place interesting. Take a few steps into the streets running parallel to the main artery to discover the charm just behind the mighty Stalinist style architecture. Comfy European pedestrian streets Bolshaya Dmitrovka or Stoleshnikov lane are a great place to start. Locals can be found here working, eating, shopping, resting and going to the Bolshoi Theatre in the evening.
