I was on a tour group and a few of us got tickets to the ballet here. The building was amazing- so beautiful and timeless. Very impressive!

I visited this iconic theatre for a Christmas time performance of the Nutcracker. Totally Russian, and totally Christmas. Also had a group tour of the whole theatre which I’d highly recommend. We even sat in on a rehearsal by a young ballerina.

I’m sure you’ve already made up your mind to come. The best advice I can give is book tickets as far ahead as possible, the stalls in front of the stage give a great view. My photo is 6 rows from the front. Be aware...More

Granted, it's not cheap but the view and the sound is absolutely amazing. Boris Godunov is a long one so be prepared for two intervals.

If you want to visit the theatre you must buy tickets online well in advance. Otherwise, you can end up paying 100 times more, especially, before Christmas and a New Year.

I booked through the bolshoj website. There is a possibility to get a message when the new tickets are on the market. I asked for that. Then it was easy. I had several times contact with the same employee.
