Since it is located at the Red Square, you cannot skip this place. It is quite OK to visit to enjoy its decoration and some restaurants. Very clean and comfortable

I visited the GUM store with a group of friends, and was frankly amazed by the scale and grandeur of this wonderful place. It really does make Harrods look rather small. We didn't know much of the history until our Russian speaking friend explained it's origins in the Communist era as a store for Western tourists and party officials. Inside there... More

If you are looking for a collection of high end shopping, nice restaurants, a beautiful building and even great ice cream, I recommend you take time to walk around. It was impressive and plenty of shops, and all nicely decorated. It was also a place to go inside and warm up! No visit to Moscow would be complete if you... More

GUM is a very lavish and expensive shopping center on one of the four comers of the Red Square. The interior and exterior are beautiful and quite a sight to see. Indoors, are extremely expensive shops that are frequented by the large groups of Chinese tourists. From what I was told, none of the locals shop there because it is... More

This place used to be a market, back in the 1800's, and perhaps even before that. Today it's a majestic shopping mall with some of the finest brands. I do not shop at all (not my thing) but I must recommend a visit to this place because the decoration is fantastic and it's really huge. Truly beautiful place.

GUM, in general, is a historic shopping centre facing Red Square, so it's impossible to miss it. There are middle-range and expensive shops inside. On the 1st floor there's a supermarket: overpriced but OK if you have no choice or just want a quick snack, etc. There's a Soviet style cafe on the upper floor, it's called Stolovaya 57. GUM... Amazing store with a lot of variety, the service is ok but it need more people with English language. The prices they told me that were the best prices in Moscow and for example in some Valentino shoes they had a higher price that in the Valentino store that was 200 meters away.

Don't miss this beautiful building, looking is free. Also GUM has places to eat if you are at the adjacent Red Square. Lots of luxurious stores.

We popped in while visiting Red Square and ended up staying for lunch in the little cafe in the centre, by the fountain. This "mall" is three stories and has tons of stores, most of which have a bodyguard at the door but which are empty of people. I don't know how they stay in business! Lots of people were... More
